I had a bad falling out with a close friend like this, someone i'd consider family (and still do). It really sucks when one side just doesn't seem to want to forgive and forget and move on and hold a grudge but those people never change their mind. It took me 3 years of trying and reaching out before I just gave up. Lifes too short for this stuff but it keeps happening. A lot of the time (in my case) they have someone on their "side" or in their life telling them not to forgive the other person and they listen to it.
