I think that pretty people are generally more-liked and have better self-esteem, which adds up over time. It all helps a person be more outgoing, accumulate interesting stories, and develop a more fascinating personality. If you told me a brilliant entertainer or fantastic singer was also gorgeous, I'd be inclined to trust you, you know?
