Don't know what phase could do different in this situation . Set a finite date for her return? That'd be ridiculous because clearly she's dealing with something that is not gonna disappear at a specific date.

It took me about a year to get over the death of my father, and even then you never "get over it", you just settle into a "new normal". The dreams that keep you awake at night slowly happen less often. I sympathize with her, and I hope she has more support from friends and family than I did.
