That's not true from my experience. Men certainly bottle up more stuff and they tend to "break" under more pressure because the support systems for them are usually worse, but women bottle up stuff just as easily as men. Kinda, it certainly is still the stereotype and popular with the red pill crowd, but also in a general sense it's still kinda true, men have less friends on average and their friendships are less accepting of "deep emotional talk" (on average).
Even when I went to therapy, it was primarily female, not because women are more likely to have issues, but more women seem to be able to open up than men and get help.
So on average and purely from anecdotal evidence I'd guess that men are still less likely to find help and more likely to bottle stuff up, but my point was just that this ain't a either or thing, both men and women do it a fair bit, it's what society expects from most of us.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because I don't watch many movies and the games I play are usually old and/or autism games like factorio/songs of six, so I may very well just not be aware of what is made these days.
But I still don't think it matters much, watching a movie about people talking about being emotionally vulnerable is not the same as doing it yourself.
I will grant that there's a weird trend where being mentally ill is seen as quirky and cool because the movement to make it destigmatised was exploited by kids who used the aesthetic for free sympathy, but that's not the same as actually being mentally ill, same as the previous example isn't actually opening up. It's theater, nothing more.

Read German Romantics, Dostoyevskiy and Steinbeck and tell me there's no genuine male vulnerability in there. Again, it's even the reason. There's been plenty of of women writing about women being women, and it's still riveting to read because there's a setup and a payoff. Millennial writing is so tepid because there's no conflict, no catharsis, no interplay between the setup and the payoff.
