Yes, viewership indicate the amount of active followers, but using that to compare a better vtuber feels superficial in the way that it disregards how much the fans actually support the branch monetarily.>A vtuber can have a small number of viewers, but the community bond is so tight that a huge percentage of that community buys their merch diligently. The same can be said the other way around, when a big time famous vtuber doesn't do merch nor events that often, and thus their fans have less possibilities of contributing to the vtubing wallet.>As such I feel that discussions over numbers in general are redundant as the readily available "numbers" are usually not indicative of growth. More vtuber activities (and also community events, etc) should be a much better indication for a vtuber's success. This is especially true (IMO) since a lot of healthy vtuber growth takes place steadily over years from an initial investment to a dividend return in actual big events.
