I know Twitch unlike YouTube and before the joined streams update they did to their site (anyone knows the exact date?) Twitch allows for embedded/external views to count for live viewers, YouTube decided neither a livestream nor a video view would be counted if you are not directly watching on the YT site or the mobile app, not only that you CAN NOT mute the player, minimize the browser or tab out a live stream because you literally get removed as a viewer, you can't mute the tab either (IIRC this is the only thing twitch made for a view to not count). Also, that was a drops stream, people were camping for drops, not chatting.
