It's now been officially a year of Stock Watches, somehow.ANYCOLORAnycolor's week did not treat them well, as the stock this week closed at 3145 yen (-215). Wednesday was their only time where they saw any gains (which almost patched up Monday's losses), but Tuesday at the very least saw no losses or gains. However these losses are most likely attributed to the state of the global economy.But at the very least Anycolor compared to their competitor does have a upper hand, and it ironically comes from them blowing up their appeal in the West last year. The tariffs will have a severe affect on sending Merch to the US, but since Anycolor's fanbase is more Japan/SEA adjacent it's gonna have a minimal affect at best. They still have plenty of worry though, as Japan's economy continues to be affected by the situation it's not out of the realm that consumers are gonna put SCs and Merch at the bottom of the totem pole of monetary use.April 3rd also marked a full year that they've been tracked by yours truly. Their closing price last year was 2385 Yen, but this time they were at 3265 yen, a impressive 880 yen climb. It took a while to get here, and frankly they're in a tumultuous situation currently (well everyone is) but I think for now they're safe from having the lows they did last year. Which I can't say the same for...COVER CORPCover Corp's hellish ride continues as the stock slides down to 2263 yen (-248) this week, barely eking out 2 days of negligible gains. They did at least snap that 8 day losing streak, but things are looking increasingly dire just from looking at their trajectory these past few week. In other news, Cover also appointed a new Director and Senior Vice President in Shuhei Ueda (formerly Outside director) and Shigeki Hayashi (formerly head of their creative division, now SVP of However it's looking bad out there for Cover Corp compared to Anycolor, As they are gonna be put through the wringer with the ongoing tariffs situation. Like Anycolor they also have merchandising as their main revenue maker, but differentiate with a sizable chunk of their fanbase being from the United States. With the tariffs it's gonna be especially hard for Cover with their diversified fanbase. And this is not even accounting for the fact that consumers from BOTH Japan and USA might be more strict with their spending in this economy. Cover Corp is guaranteed to be the most affected by the tariffs/economic situation out of the industry, and considering their place in the market? I think the 1000s are back on the table barring some good fortune. There is a slimmer of good news, and that this tariff situation happened in APRIL, The start of their new fiscal year. So potentially Q4 being mostly unbothered will allow them to meet their forecasts for last year, and give them some time.And speaking of last year, let's take a good look at where they were when we started stock watches. April 3rd 2024 had them at 2241 Yen, compared to April 3rd this week having them at 2320 yen for a 79 yen gain. And coincidentally, last year they also were in a free fall. I guess they're opting for a rerun this time.OTHERThe NIKKEI saw a major 9% loss for this week overall, in large part due to the US tariffs that have been announced. This is the lowest the NIKKEI has been since the brief crash on August 5th last year.That's all for weekly stock watch. Hopefully next week is better for the economy as a whole.
