There are non-sexual reasons to model that, mainly because just having a black box saying 'nothing to see here' feels unprofessional, and will be seen at basically any camera angle that moves the dress up; Mainly with dances, the point of the program, sometimes can be visible with anything that rotates the model too much, like cartwheels.
