Hello /vt/, never really watched vtubers but I got recommended some Gawr Gura clips and it got me curious enough to check out a few. What are some good starter vtubers to check out? I mostly watch comedy streamers who really get into their games. Also don't really know enough japanese to understand their streamers sorry.
>>99278625retard
>>99278625sorry bud vtubing has already peaked for you
>>99278625none of the women are funny, i'm sorry anon
>>99279043She's entertaining but I just wanna see what else is out there, and thiis seemed like a good place to ask.
>>99278625Welcome newfriend. Watch Phase connect. They're much more funnier than the whores over at Hololive and are very unhinged. Check out Pipkin Pippa first.

>>99278625>I mostly watch comedy streamers who really get into their games. You will LOVE Biboo then. I'd also recommend you Mumei, but sadly, she's graduating in only 16 days. You'll still be able to watch her VODs at least. Gigi is also very chaotic and funny, but she doesn't really get deep into her games like Biboo does. Biboo tryhards her games while also being a professional shitposter.
>>99286120Man, yeah. My brother asked me for beginner vtuber recs the other day and Mumei was the first person to come to mind. Would’ve been a good suggestion for him if she wasn’t halfway out. I’m gonna miss her.
>>99278625Gura doesn’t stream too much these days but she has a long backlog to watch. If you prefer live, I’d suggest either phase connect’s Lumi if you’re okay with a little mentally ill edge, and basically anyone from Hololive English either way.
>>99286120She plays alot of souls games right?Anything else?
>>99278625>>99279373Check out Phase Connect. They have some great vtubers. I would start with Jelly, Lumi, Lia, Runie... but most of Phase are great entertainers. There are also many indies who are good gamers and very funny. Bri At Cookiebox comes to mind.
>>99288794>>99286273I would like to clarify for both of us that suggesting phase isn’t a meme. They get a lot of unmerited heat and falseflagging on 4chan, but I and I assume the other guy are both being genuine.
>>99279373Watch Nyanners play FFX. Is kino
>>99278625Assuming you're not trolling, go ask in general threads or on another website altogether, the catalog of this shithole of a board is not the right place for honest answers.
>>99286273>Gura doesn’t stream too much these daysUnderstatement of the century
>>99279043no....
>>99278625Alright, kid, I'm gonna give you a straight answer because I like your honesty and optimism. I'mma assume you're totally new to vtubers for this.Congratulations, you've stumbled across Gura. Whether you stay with her or explore other vtubers is up to you, because Gura is a guaranteed good time and the only real downside to her is that her schedule is all kinds of erratic.Seeing as you like Gura, why not try out the other members of HoloMyth. From what you've put down, I think you'd enjoy Kiara, she gets very into the games she plays, and often plays games the others don't. You might also like Amelia Watson, she's got a great personality and is infamous for getting salty. Amelia left Hololive last year to go independent and now she streams as Dooby3D. She's a big goof on that.Stepping outside Myth for Hololive English as a whole, you might like Koseki Bijou. She's adorable and possibly the most hardcore gamer in Hololive English by a long margin. For a more relaxed gaming vibe, try Ouro Kronii, she also gets pretty into her games, but she's a lot less energetic than the others, so if you feel like a streamer to watch while lying in a cold bath and having an existential crisis, she's a hit. Finally, I think Cecilia Immergreen is a good shout. She's a genuinely quirky and odd individual, and the way she interacts with the other members of her group is great. Not a peak gamer, but her vibe sounds like something you'd enjoy.Beyond Hololive EN, you might want to give Hololive Indonesia a quick look. They all speak English as well as Indonesian, and frequently translate themselves for the English audience. I'd recommend Ollie, Risu and Kaela. The first two are energetic balls of fun, Kaela streams on the same schedule as Waffle House opens. Also try watching Anya play a horror game just to see somebody play the scariest shit and never raise her voice once like a psychopath. If you're open to watching male vtubers for a chillout with the bros vibe, Holostars EN has you covered, too. Axel is a rowdy Australian guy who's always good fun and really supports his colleagues, Goldbullet likes to play some older games and has serious Markiplier vibes, Gavis Bettel is God's perfect idiot, Shinri is easily the big cuddly grandfather of the group, and Jurard is reliably a good time.Casting the net all the way out to other corpos and indies, I recommend checking out Vshojo and Phase Connect. Vshojo is fairly unique in that it functions more as a clubhouse for big existing indie talent and Nijisanji refugees than a normal vtuber agency and as such, the vibe is way different, and rules around collaborations, planning and presentation are way more loose. Matara Kan has an amazing voice and plays some unusual games as well as holding some just wonderful yapping streams, K9Kuro is a bro you can vibe with and a great chill time, Henya is adorable, dayo, and she's got gamer energy all over the place, and Geega is an old hand at vtubing, so she's a good relaxing time. Phase Connect is what happens when you take all the vtubers who wouldn't fit in other agencies and just throw them together and see what sticks. Pipkin Pippa is their most famous member and she's a fucking wild ride, but there's also much more relaxing streamers there like Shiina, Dizzy and Uruka. For gremlin energy, try Panko or Eimi. Finally, we move on to the indies. The biggest and most obvious one for you is Dokibird. She's a household name for a reason. She laughs almost constantly, is a huge fan of first person shooters, ber fanbase is very active and her positivity is infectious. If she's a bit much for you, try her friend Mint Fantome. Mint got the Metal Gear brainrot bad, but she plays a lot of classic and retro games, too and she's a super friendly and relaxing experience to watch. Laimu is a fresher face on the big indie scene, but she's got a really warm personality and she likes to play a wide variety of games, alone or with friends. Her voice and model are adorable and her comedic timing is amazing. Finally, I'd like to recommend Ryeisbread and Grimmi. Rye just got a new model after leaving her old corpo in a messy departure. She's historically been a big fan of Tarkov and Seige, so she's a certified tactical brat, and I'd bet money she's gonna do a scav raid sooner or later now she's got a fresh model. Finally, Grimmi is last here because she's about as far from Gura as you can get but if you pick up what she puts down, she's great. She's pathologically quiet and sounds like she's disassociating half the time, and she likes to play horror games, so expect a day one playthrough of Silent Hill S when that comes out.Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
>>99278625If you're being genuine, my first advice would be to never ask genuine questions on the catalog. As for who i'd recommend, i'd say definitely catch Mumei's streams while you still can.>I mostly watch comedy streamers who really get into their gamesKoseki Bijou (affectionally called Biboo), Nimi Nightmare (indie) and Tenma (from Phase) all fit the bill fairly well and offer fairly distinct streams, you're bound to like at least one of those. If you're cool with watching dudes then i hear HeavenlyFather is pretty good but he's on Twitch
>>99295367Seconding HeavenlyFather. Guy's great.
>>99278625I recommend you this automaton girl, her name is cecilia

>>99294823OP here, thanks for the recs anon. I've heard Dokibird's name around from a few Marvel Rival streamers but never actually saw a stream, i'll check her out. What does corpo and indie mean here?
>>99296438Glad you liked the recommendations.>What does corpo and indie mean here?Shortest most concise answer is that some vtubers stream completely by themselves with no affiliation to any other streamer or corporate entity, and these are "indies", while other vtubers, like Gura or Kiara for example, stream as part of a talent agency that usually has a distinct brand and image attatched to it. This is usually referred to as "agency" or "corpo". Gura is part of the Hololive agency, While Pipkin Pippa, for example, is part of Phase Connect. Usually if a vtuber is part of an agency, they have that agency's name somewhere in their channel name. The biggest difference to you, the viewer, is that indies can stream with whoever they want whenever they want, but corpo vtubers usually only stream with others from within their own stable. For the vtubers themselves, some of them prefer being in an agency because it gives them support and structure they wouldn't have by themselves, while others prefer to be indie because they're more able to express themselves freely, as many corpos have certain guidelines about the kind of things a vtuber can say or stream. Finally, as a last addendum, I advise that you avoid the vtuber group Nijisanji. They used to be a pretty big name and the agency has some very good talent in their English branch but they're notorious for treating their streamers like absolute shit. No less than four of the vtubers I mentioned in my earlier comment used to be in there and none of them have a good word to say about their time there, with Dokibird getting the worst treatment of them all. They treated her so bad it nearly cost her her life. Most corpos by and large treat their streamers well, but Nijisanji is terrible and I advise you don't support them with your viewership and money.
>>99296438Corpo means they work under a company. Sometimes Japanese (Hololive, Nijisanji), sometimes Western (Phase, V4M). Corpo vtubers typically have a model and other assets provided to them (and owned by) the company, and in turn the company takes a cut of their earnings. These companies also help secure things like merch production and sponsorship opportunities. They also typically have to follow rules, which can be of benefit ("don't bring up controversial topics"), but also restrictions (especially for Japanese corpo vtubers, who have to follow Japanese copyright law, meaning they need to ask permissions for games, can't emulate, etc)Indie vtubers are just that: independent vtubers. Individual streamers. They own themselves, they do everything themselves, they keep all their earnings, they don't have to follow any rules/restrictions (outside of things that would get them banned by streaming platforms, of course).
>>99278625>good starter vtubersI'd recommend Henya, she's a NEET hafu gremlin who gets really into games, is good at using toggles and her reactions to games / collab partners etc are always either precious or hilarious. She also collabs with a lot of different groups so it can help you organically find new vtubers you may like.
