I used to be a big fan. Then they wrecked it, terrible writing, terrible acting and stories. With a lead that tries to be a caricature of previous doctors, like a badly made amateur version; with no heart.Hopefully the new guy can bring it back but since he has very little acting experience I doubt it.
>>8000819Haven't watched for years - is the doctor de-transitioning then?
>>8000819>Then they wrecked it, terrible writing, terrible acting and stories. With a lead that tries to be a caricature of previous doctors, like a badly made amateur version; with no heart.I agree. I couldn't stand the Tennant era.

RIP another show lost to girl boss power and wokenessOnce upon a time it was about good stories and interesting characters on an adventure. Then it became about proving women are the "upgrade" and better than men. Not through any character development but just because women must be seen as better. Combined with badly written stories and dialogue. Thats how you kill a show
>>8009226>Then it became about proving women are the "upgrade" and better than men. Not through any character development but just because women must be seen as better. Combined with badly written stories and dialogue.yeah, I can't stand Rose either.
>>8009636
>>8009252The simple fact of the matter is that RTD is a better writer than Chibnall and didn't advertise his era by talking about what social changes he'd hope it would inspire. All of Rusty's companions with the exception of Rose post-Eccleston were fully rounded and genuinely great characters who happened to be women. Moffat didn't know how to write girls as anything other than sex mommies and sassy ninjas and Chibnall couldn't define a woman if asked directly, so of course the quality of "the message" degraded.
>>8010942>RTD didn't advertise his era by talking about what social changes he'd hope it would inspireyou think this only because you were 9.>genuinely great characters who happened to be womenhamfisting every single one of them as THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPANION does not help to see them as great characters and is a clear sign of lazy writing.>Chibnallanother side of the same coin. NuWho as a whole suffers from the same problems in different flavours. Chibnall simply didn't have the benefit of nostalgia goggles and unprecedented stupidly high stakes. at least he was much better than the others on his Doctor's characterisation, but sadly at this point everybody has forgotten than the Doctor is not supposed to be a spastic who bows down to his female companion because she has the deus ex machina power.
This thread had a depressing lack of the old Target book artworks

>>8013287kek the fuckin face she makes like she's saying "i'm doing it better than everyone else. the others before me were so racist and bigoted and i'm the hero that's gonna save the franchise!"and the fuckin poo in the loo hiding in the background just to the left of her like he's about to drug and rape her
>>8018060the next ones going to be even worse.the doctor will be a skinny gay black guy. I still can't believe it. I regret that I have lived this long to see every franchise destroyed one after another
>>8018060>i'm doing it better than everyone else. the others before me were so racist and bigoted and i'm the hero that's gonna save the franchise!never in any of her episodes does she say anything even remotely equivalent to that. you're making things up only to stay mad.>>8019302the franchise was destroyed in 2005 when it became science-fantasy romance for teenage girls.
>>8019428She literally did say, shes a woman now, its definitely an upgrade.it was one of the first things she would say to people when she met them. Implying shes better than any before her, because shes a woman
Good night, raggedy man.
>>8019450Remember when the general got shot on gallifrey and regenerated into a blad black woman and said "phew, how do you handle all that ego"
>>8019450>taking a half-sentence quip literallyas I said, you want to stay mad. the Sixth Doctor said much worse about the Fifth Doctor. and do I need to remind you that the Tenth Doctor refused to regenerate twice because he unironically thought he was the best ever?
>>8020027>as I said, you want to stay mad.Whereas I'm sure that if one of the upcoming male Doctors encounters someone who knew him as a woman and explains he's "had an upgrade," no one will be mad at all.>the Tenth Doctor refused to regenerate twice because he unironically thought he was the best everTo be fair, I think that having lived less than a decade when some of his other personalities got centuries must have been a factor.
bumpin
New who is better than bullshit classic
Better times.

>>8028111is Tenant staying?I heard they were putting in a black gay guy with strong feminist opinions. Just to put the final nail in the coffin

Holy shit, the new episode. Star Beast.10 minutes in and there's gender politics, like this is a fucking American show now?. Keep you gender bending bullshit out of doctor who. Then we've got a disabled person on an accident site with rubble all over. Yeah sure. Oh and her chair fires rockets??, WTF. How would she even aim that shit. Its like tried to speed run as many politic bullshit into an episode as possibleJust when I thought they couldn't wreck the show further. They sink to new levels.RIP
I don't have many Doccy Who papes but I do have two versions of Gallifrey Falls
>>8028111It sucks. Tennant shouldn't have signed up to embarrass himself like this

when are they going to realize going woke has destroyed the show..like having a teen guy lecture the doctor, whos a thousand years or something old. Lecture him about pro nouns, then having women tell this guy that if he was a women he'd be smarter, he'd understand things better. This fucking guy has saved the planet god knows how many times but oh, because hes not a women hes not good enough. Fuck off with that shit. They are burying him in this toxic woke culture
I've had multiple friends try to convince me to like Doctor Who, since I like Star Trek (pre discovery), Stargate and even LEXX but I just cannot watch WHO without cringing uncontrollably. Many shows try to promote an agenda and often do it in a subtle way but Doctor Who can't. It's all so contrived, obvious and pathetic. There was a character who's personality type was "I'm gay!" and she said in in every fucking episode and that's barely an exaggeration.I know a TV show cannot cause autism...But if it could Doctor Who would be one of the biggest culprits.
>>8055561Did you start from the beginning or just jump straight into the new series?Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant's era is generally considered to be the best part of the show. I'm also a big fan of Star Trek/Stargate and early Doctor Who is one of my favourite series.Unfortunately the writing has taken a nosedive in recent years, but the early episodes are a much better representation of the show.
Keep it up, lads!
>>8055653I've been a Who fan since the 80's. One of my earliest memories is when he fell and regenerated. I was blown away, I had never seen anything like it.I've followed him through every series, movie and the new Who. Now, I just cannot watch it. The Whittaker Who was the worst I've ever seen, simply terrible writing, pushing agendas and completely misunderstanding the character. It was like she knew nothing about him, but maybe watched one episode. Then just ran around acting like a fool, trying to do some kind of knock off pathetic version without knowing what she was talking about. I gave up after a few episodes. It hurt to watch. Then the recent tennat return episodes being written like they were for a 5 year old and also for trans audiences. Why would you write specifically to only make 0.01% of the population happy. It was just terrible. They seem to just want to try to prove they are hip, cool and up to date, so they push trans and gay themes then pat themselves on the back. Telling the Dr he isn't smart because hes only a man and women are better. Telling him off for pronoun usage. It was so cringe inducing.Dr Who was never about sexuality, the doctor never had and sexual relationships. It was never a theme. He's hundreds of years old, he has little to no interest in dating what he must think of as his children by now.Theres just no need for sexual themes in Who. It was all about discovery, the wonder of the universe and life. Fighting crazy aliens who want to kill people with a smile, a laugh and some cool tech. Now, despite all the backlash they still won't listen and are going ahead with a gay doctor who pushes his sexuality on people. They have killed off their most popular character.Someone I thought I would follow my whole life.
>>8055653Old Doctor Who? I found it to be cheesy but inoffensive and when I was young, one of my uncles I was staying with let me watch some Dalek episodes from the 70's-80's and I remember liking them (apparently I used to draw them a lot). New Doctor Who though is just unwatchable for me. You can really tell it's a modern BBC show from a mile off and all for the worst reasons. Like the anon in the post above, I never got a sense of wonder and mystery a time travel science fiction show should have. Every episode, every storyline just stinks of the BBC and their "values". Yes, science fiction can reflect modern day issues by projecting them on alien races/worlds but you need writers and producers to be very skilled and motivated to do that without it becoming preachy and forced and the Who writers clearly can't (or won't).Deep Space Nine got a little too preachy in some episodes for my taste but only in a few episodes and it's still my favorite SciFi show of all time.
>>8055561what you describe is the new series. starting Doctor Who with the new series is like starting Star Wars at Episode VII.>>8055653>Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant's era is generally considered to be the best part of the show.only by tumblr fangirls.>early Doctor Whoit isn't.>>8055676>Dr Who was never about sexuality, the doctor never had and sexual relationships. It was never a theme. He's hundreds of years old, he has little to no interest in dating what he must think of as his children by now.>Theres just no need for sexual themes in Who. have you seriously rewatched the Tennant era recently? the one where the Doctor unironically falls in love with a 19-year-old chav?have you rewatched the Smith era recently? the one where half of the characters are hornbags and the Doctor is flirting with the femme fatale daughter of his own companion?I agree with everything you said but you being unable to realise this criticism also fully applies to early NuWho is pathetic.NuWho Doctors have always been out of character, ever since series 1. NuWho just is NOT Doctor Who and has never been. simple as.
>>8001146>>8001146is this a videogame ?
Doctor Who was genius from 1963–1977; good from 1977–1989 with a couple of hiccups; trash since 2005.
>>8033714The old Zygons are unironically better, zoomtard.
RIP Doctor Who, you now have to live on as a gay, trans message delivery program. With a doctor who twerked in his audition to get the roleRest In Peace my old friend

This is your doctor now.Look what they did
>>8047506Very nice picture. It's a shame they sucked.
>>8067944loOK whaT they tOok fROm uS
>>8067949I know, right? This was always the one show blessedly free of anything gay or camp. :(
>>8068374What many people, including the shows writers and producers, seem to be incapable of grasping is that the main complaint the audience now has with the show is that while the show definitely had a vaguely gay/camp element to it at times throughout its history, the audience was largely always happy to accept it because the show was never overtly preachy and it instead generally focused on telling actually good, fun, and engaging sci-fi stories with well written and mostly well-rounded characters, rather than making the political ideologies of the day the main/only focus of the show and its characters. And then along came #13 and now #15... and so now the show has about done a complete 180 where it's now almost entirely focused on 'The Message' while any attempts at good old-fashioned fun and interesting sci-fi storytelling have all but gone out of the fucking window. But the show's cast and crew apparently simply can't/couldn't understand this perfectly valid complaint and so they instead chose to directly or indirectly accuse their audience of various -ism's and phobias - e.g. racism, sexism, homophobia, etc., and then having insulted the intelligence of most of their audience they then had the nerve to complain that most of the audience had walked away.So damn right we walked, fuck them - go woke, go broke.
>>8000819Doctor Who was never good. It just sucked in a slightly more endearing way.
This show would have had so much more potential if it wasn't British.
