Im moving to the city in a few days and Im nervous as fuck (grew up in a small town, first apartment by myself)send me some cityscapes to hype me please
City-life is a chance to reinvent yourself, redefine who you hang out with, bask in a huge populous that doesn't care when you fuck up (complete opposite of small town drama), food and nightlife at 3:47am if you feel like, hobbies and entertainment galore.It has its downsides but it has a lotta ups. You should be more excited than nervous.

city living gets olds after awhile. Eventually youre going to want to migrate to a small town once you want a family, despite wanting so desperately to get away from them when youre young. Glad I got to this thread before it fell off. I was looking for this particularly - I'm moving to Paris after the olympics this year. I've been living in some backwater rural village in the US for the last few years and I can't fucking wait to get out. The grocery store is 30 minutes by car (which I pay an absurd amount to have each month, and i HAVE to have it as there is literally nothing resembling public transportation) yet everything is so loud because I'm not far from a major highway. Awful. Very excited to be out of here soon. Anyway. Does anyone have anything of Paris or French cities in general? Preferably ones that aren't just 'look it's the eiffel tower'also please don't respond to this post telling me how much you hate paris. I don't really care

Let me start by saying you do what you want to do. Wanna live in a city? Do it. Out in the country? Do it. An isolated island in the Pacific? Do it. I'm not telling you what to do. Find your own way.That said, I think a lot of what's being said ITT has to do with the age of the posters. When you're young, you wanna be with other humans. We're social animals. But there comes a time in most people's lives when you wanna be sleeping by 9:00 or 10:00 at night. You wanna be up and around in the daytime. And you begin to value space. Elbow room. Might happen as early as 35 or as late as 60, but it'll probably happen. You'll get sick of the crime. The trash. The urine smell of the streets. And your view of the millions of fellow city dwellers will be less flattering. You'll see that many of them are cold, soulless, and just concerned about themselves. You'll begin to ask yourself, "Why do I like being here again?" Not EVERYONE goes through it exactly like this, but enough do. But if you like the city until you're 99, more power to you!
