City-life is a chance to reinvent yourself, redefine who you hang out with, bask in a huge populous that doesn't care when you fuck up (complete opposite of small town drama), food and nightlife at 3:47am if you feel like, hobbies and entertainment galore.

It has its downsides but it has a lotta ups. You should be more excited than nervous.

Im just in my own head is all. Im 28 so I missed a lot of social milestones by waiting this long and I tried to move out a few years ago but covid stopped that.
I guess I just accepted that Id never leave my town and now that I am (and this late in the game) Im anxious. Its also not the place I really wanted so Im actually a little bummed

one of the nice thing about cities is that there's so many people you're virtually invisible amongst the herd. in a couple weeks you'll feel no different than a city boy.

city living gets olds after awhile. Eventually youre going to want to migrate to a small town once you want a family, despite wanting so desperately to get away from them when youre young. Utilize it now to build your career and social life and enjoy it now, but eventually youre realize how based small towns really are

t. 35 year old trying to get out

Cities can be comfy in certain locations and at certain hours, but dealing with crowded areas, clogged traffic, rude people, the excessive noise, and stress of all the urgency will always make cities less comfier than small towns or rural areas. I do like being in the city every once in awhile though.

Yeah, I was referring to cities in Europe, North America or even Japan, not cities like Dhaka, Bombay or Caracas which are the opposite of comfy.

Hi /wp/,

Does anyone have any of Ottawa, Ontario? I'm feeling nostalgic for how this city used to be before all the vile glass towers and assholes from Toronto.

Doesn't have to be old pictures. I just want to admire my city at night.

They can change my neighbourhood, but I won't let them change what my neighbourhood meant for me as a child.

I left LA three years ago despite being born there because I was finally priced out. East Coast life has been slower, and it's given me time to save money and develop parts of my life that needed some calm, but I still feel my soul called home to visit a couple of times a year and just...get lost once in a while. There's nowhere quite like it.

Glad I got to this thread before it fell off. I was looking for this particularly - I'm moving to Paris after the olympics this year. I've been living in some backwater rural village in the US for the last few years and I can't fucking wait to get out. The grocery store is 30 minutes by car (which I pay an absurd amount to have each month, and i HAVE to have it as there is literally nothing resembling public transportation) yet everything is so loud because I'm not far from a major highway. Awful. Very excited to be out of here soon.

Anyway. Does anyone have anything of Paris or French cities in general? Preferably ones that aren't just 'look it's the eiffel tower'

also please don't respond to this post telling me how much you hate paris. I don't really care

Great Paris papes. Any Rome ones in a similar vein?
>>
Let me start by saying you do what you want to do. Wanna live in a city? Do it. Out in the country? Do it. An isolated island in the Pacific? Do it. I'm not telling you what to do. Find your own way.

That said, I think a lot of what's being said ITT has to do with the age of the posters. When you're young, you wanna be with other humans. We're social animals. But there comes a time in most people's lives when you wanna be sleeping by 9:00 or 10:00 at night. You wanna be up and around in the daytime. And you begin to value space. Elbow room. Might happen as early as 35 or as late as 60, but it'll probably happen. You'll get sick of the crime. The trash. The urine smell of the streets. And your view of the millions of fellow city dwellers will be less flattering. You'll see that many of them are cold, soulless, and just concerned about themselves. You'll begin to ask yourself, "Why do I like being here again?" Not EVERYONE goes through it exactly like this, but enough do. But if you like the city until you're 99, more power to you!

why are you nervous anon? I hope you discover how fun it is living alone instead of seeing it as gay and lonely, might be a bit eerie at first with how quiet it gets but once you settle in, it's freeing to do whatever you want, whenever you want.

Idk what city you're going to but make an effort to check out most restaurants/museums/etc. Live a proper city life. Take advantage of it. A lot of people would like this opportunity but will never have it for various reasons.

I wish I could live in the city. Cities in my country suck unfortunately because of rampant unemployment and skyrocketing crime rate. I always look at tall buildings and think that there's so much floor area filled with stuff, furniture, clutter, little ornaments, decor items, so many infinite objects I will never see. So many areas I'll never explore.

Grass is always greener. Take a road trip, it's the same shit wherever you are just different scenery. All culture is the same. The same decaying infrastructure built 50 years ago, the roads and people. You'll end up spending most of your time in a tiny overpriced apartment aside from going to the store or work. You walk the city maybe once or twice a year and it's the same shit. "Ooooh look at that building that I can stare at ahhh so much same piss smelling streets to exploree".

Not to be a negative Nelly about it all, but all the answers you ever need are already inside of yourself. I had my share of travels and now I live in the country side with my poppy fields and fiber internet. Maybe if you're a social butterfly it's neat but if you're the lonesome type a city is hell.

you niggers cant stop yourselves from being political in a thread and completely trying to derail it, huh?
wish mods actually did something on this fucking board.
>>
>>8060169
Anon was just offering OP a harsh but realistic view of modern city living, particularly in the western world; now if you don't like that harsh reality, and/or you just wanna to bury your head in the sand and deny to yourself the impact politics has on everyday folks lives then that's your problem, but it doesn't change the fact that modern life, and modern city living in particular, and politics, are all very closely intertwined and worthy of at least some note if not some discussion.

So no, Anon wasn't derailing the thread, he was making a valid on-topic observation, and then you waded in for no reason without posting any on-topic content yourself.

And before you or anyone else goes there, I've already posted all my city papes herein, so I've no more papes to share with this thread.

cities are where you go when you're young to accelerate your career, network, and have a blast. it's the best time to go.

i grew up in the Midwest and picked up to Shanghai. tripled my salary in a few years and moved back to the US.
>>
>>8020662
I guess it all depends on your background. I grew up in a major metro area and while cities can feel stifling and overwhelming, I've never felt such a sense of soul-crushing dread as when I lived in a country town. The realization that there was basically nothing to do there and that I was stuck with the same ~2000 people in my town, half of which were junkies, until I found a job elsewhere was very depressing.

Rural aesthetics are certainly nice though.

I'm sure living in American cities in certain states can be nice, even comfy, but the largest cities like NYC and LA look dreadful to me. Then again, where I live the largest city's metro area is 200k people in total, so maybe that's just my background speaking for me.

this isn't /pol/, that's why there's a minimum res for the pics, because the main point of wg is to post papes, not shitty memes or low quality content.
my critic is not towards the OP's comment but towards the shitty act of posting unrelated images to what OP asked, staining the thread with shit.
