it's a 3d modeling program that was really popular in the mid 90's and early 2000's. the early versions of the program make some very surreal looking effects especially with landscapes involved.
>>
This website has it all. People still use this tool and it's still great even after all these years!

* Daz3D are the current owners/developers of the Bryce software, occasionally they do put Bryce 7 on sale at very heavily discounted prices:

* Daz3D are currently promoting their own product "Daz Studio 4" and a new plugin called "Ultrascenery 2" as a modern 64-bit alternative landscape/scenery creation tool to the older 32-bit Bryce 7.

Bryce 7 / Ultrascenery 2 - https://www.daz3d.com/bryce-7-pro
Daz Studio 4 - https://www.daz3d.com/technology/

* Bryce 7 does not work on MacOS 10.7 or higher. It likely will also not work on any flavour/version of Linux.

* Because Bryce (including v7) is only 32-bit software it can only make use of at most 2Gb of RAM, this isn't ideal for making large renders, however there is a patch program which will allow Bryce to run with approx. 3.5Gb of RAM on 64-bit versions of Windows, the patch program can be downloaded from:

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/

* Even while running Bryce with the Large Address Aware patch, very large/complex renders can still cause the program to freeze/crash, so remember to save often, also note that Bryce 7 is only 32-bit software from late 2010, not some heavily optimised 64-bit modern 3D tool from 2023/2024, so while Bryce is quite fun/powerful/functional for its age, and it makes getting into 3D art somewhat easier and cheaper than other more modern tools, it does have some limitations.

* Daz3D run a Bryce community forum at:

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/bryce-discussion

* Daz3D also still have a fairly large selection of Bryce-compatible plugins and custom terrains/textures/etc. for sale on their website.

What program do you use to make these? I'd love to make some as well!

Most of these were made with some version or other of Bryce ( >>8062786 >>8062690 )

I don't recall what they used to create the game Myst ( >>8062118 ) with back in the day, though it possibly wasn't Bryce.

And this one ( >>8062067 ) was most likely originally made with Adobe Illustrator or some other vector-based graphics software.

I used to be hugely into Bryce in the 2000s. It's been through the ringer, but Renderosity is still around: https://www.renderosity.com/gallery/sections/2/bryce

Someone on another board got into an argument that I can't remember the subject of and posted this AI generated pape. Artistic integrity aside, I thought it was pretty wild.

Ryan Bliss pretty much single-handedly popularized this stuff. And he's still doing his thing today:

He still makes all his old work available.

I doubt anyone would use this as their wallpaper, but I really liked the aesthetic it has.
