It might not be an amazing movie, but I find a lot of enjoyment in the acting, the sets, the costumes, the way it was shot, the imagination and the means of the time the movie was made in... >>5609437I'm the second anon. I really do enjoy the sequel and I connect with K more than Deckard, but the atmosphere of the movie feels very unlived in. In the first Blade Runner, there's always a bunch of crowds present throughout the majority of the movie whether its in the beginning with Deckard eating ramen, hunting down one of the replicants in that strip joint or chasing her down the street, it all felt crowded. It made the world feel more lively and real. Then you get to the sequel where there are some gorgeous shots but hardly any people. From the top of my head, you only see crowds in the beginning when K is returning to his apartment and with those children at the junkyard. Also, the sequel really suffers from not having a good antagonist. Roy really carried most of the first Blade Runner in my opinion and his speech at the end is both depressing but inspiring. I can't even remember that replicant bitch's name who K fights at the end. It's a beautiful shot of her being drowned, but it lacks impact because I don't even know who she is. She's just some insane, cruel cunt whereas Roy was a dangerous but lost creature who was desperately hoping to live. It is fitting in both movies that a replicant performs a selfless act at the end of their lives with Roy saving Deckard before dying and K reuniting Deckard with his daughter. Like I said, I enjoy the sequel a lot, but I prefer the first one in more areas.
