[Time For A New Thread Edition]
why are most gondolas people make sad or melancholic
>>5619593He's just a wistful and slightly melancholic kinda guy, that's all it is really.
yo who is this artist, someone send me down this rabit hole cuz im intrigued
here's some OC. in hindsight i fucked up the way the body is supposed to bend. i blame it on being drowsy.
First new Gondola I've made in roughly 2 years

fresh OC. Immediately thought of Gondola when I heard the track and only just figured out how to make it.
>>5619995comfy
>>5619995nice
anyone got the sauce on this one?
Can anyone put a name to this tune? If not I plan on breaking it down to play on harmonica while camping.Very nostalgic for some reason
>>5620664Download the file and upload it here: https://www.aha-music.com/upload

Is there a wrestling-themed gondola?
My first gondola oc, tried to give it old aesthetic, but it kinda ended up looking crusty. The song is from Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines and is called festival, part of unused audio restored by the unofficial patch. I do not come here often but I love all of you for posting these and sharing the moments. God bless.
>>5623252very ambient! i like it!
>>5619593I think its because of his nature which makes people nostalgic and bittersweet for better times. Also any sauce for that song if you know?
classics
>>5624459i used to see this all the time in /f/ music: Corpse Party PC-98 Soundtrack 09
>>5625047>that vn
>>5621324no help
>>5621033Guy who originally made this Gondola here. It's from an anime called Tsuritama. It's track 4 on the OST called "Kazoku". It's been so long I actually had trouble digging out where the song came from.
Does anyone have the source on the music for this? I've loved this gondola for years, but can't seem to find anything
>>5619593He's a reflection of life.
>>5630006Sonny Boy was so good. I never felt as disconnected to /a/ when I saw so many people get filtered.
>>5619593Gondola is the eternal observer. He is outside of the timeline, observing. Probably you feel sad and melancholic because you understand: you are a lone observer and you never know what your image is in the minds of people that interact with you. You only has a reflection of you in their mind that you guessed. You think they think such and such.
some old OC1/2
>>5632041cowboy hat gondola2/2
>>5632041cap the audio bro, the high frequency spikes make it totally unlistenable
>>5632041Sounds a lot like the Phantasy Star II BGM minus the annoyingly high octave keys ringing throughout.
>>5621546what's the song name? tried and MOSCOW MULE ~優しさ~ came back, but i can't find it anywhere.

>>5619866
Here's one I picked up years ago. Don't know why... It's the only one I have.
I'm too drunk to get the captcha right
>>5638207Very nice! Was this from the guy that was making renders of M.E. environments a few years ago?

>>5642779
Someone should make a gondola with this song. I think it really captures the ethos.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVqFnuaW4JQ
>>5628257I'm glad someone liked this Gondola I made years ago. I never did find the exact song title as this was a song pulled from an old documentary from the Soviet Union. It was a theme they used throughout the documentary and the audio in the gondola is the only part without dialog. Sadly I no longer remember what the documentary title was called.
Requesting Armenian Gondola. I forgot the song name and it's been driving me crazy.
bump
>>5648805holy crap, how'd you make the webm that long? o.0
>>5649354Not sure what you are getting at. Its under 500 seconds in audio length and under the 6mb file size length. If you are referring to making a webm with long audio fit within the file size limit I reduced the FPS to 1.
>>5650310Song name pls

>>5628970Beautiful
>>5650390Thanks mate
>>5638301Source of the art? I know i have seen that logo on the floor somewhere else
>>5651415I can't say for certain (I never played them) but the gondola there looks like the guy from the new deus ex games
>>5651418You're definitely on to something anon however i have been searching for half an hour anything deus ex related to see if it matches the logo or room but I got nothing
>>5651955found it in the archive with the song listed as human revolution ost- penthouse, searching that got me similar looking images
Here lads. I made this one last night. I'm still working on it though. Song is called Downpour by Purely Gray. enjoy lads.
Fresh OC
>>5652047>revolution ost- penthouseyeah its def deus ex. For whatever reason I thought it was related to death stranding going off the black legs. Didn't recognize it as cyberpunk tech until deus ex was mentioned and of course the glasses. Well shit now I know why I downloaded it in the first place. Thanks guys.
>>5652047Based based based, thanks a ton anon
>>5652133Thanks for the song sauce, anon
>>5654163Np anon. enjoy
>>5619912It's really comfy anon
I have over 700 gondolas saved onto my computer. Out of every meme I have encountered on the internet, this single one has driven me to such fascination. It's amazing that every one I have saved draws either a deep focus or such a light-hearted chuckle that no other piece of media has come close to stirring within me.
>>5655199aw same, i also have a shit ton of gondolas. theyre my favorite. i like a little guy who just sits and watches the beauty in the world. i feel like that a lot.
>>5653847manaan...
>>5656649i like this one
>>5644945It is nice seeing someone repost a gondola you made years ago. I made so many back in 2018 through covid and it's crazy 4-5 years later still seeing them circulate here and there
>>5619593Gondola memes don't a lot of action happening on screen. I think this, combined with the music, invites introspection on the part of the viewer. Gondola memes make me think about happy memories from the past, about missed opportunities, about how I wish the world was, and what I wish I was. I'm sure this is also true for many other people who enjoy Gondola memes. Everyone who makes a Gondola meme has seen a Gondola meme and been effected in some way by them, which influences how they make them. It sort of becomes a self-sustaining cycle. See an introspective meme, make an introspective meme. In this way, Gondola is very different from other memes. I think because of this, Gondola will have a home indefinitely on /wsg/, even after he's been forgotten by the rest of the internet, and even the rest of 4chan.For me, Gondola also reminds me of what the internet was like when I was growing up. Before everything had been centralized under a few corporate websites. Not sure why that is, though. I think part of it is that the simple drawings for many of them remind me of flash games.Anyway... thanks for reading my blogpost.
Has been a long time since I've made a Gondola.
Guess I'll post my other two as well.
>>5630360I know the image is from BOC's cultusaurus erectus but the song is from something elseit's a real earworm
>>5664857nevermind, it's from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrq8kGoTb7o, someone was kind enough to add the filename in the archives a couple years agoalways satisfying to find the source for something that's been bugging you
Do Gondola threads seem to have slowed down over the past few years?
>old gondola sitting next to someone on a train station waiting >lost itI wanna hear that music again
>>5627734NTA but tyvm :D
>>5638205Are there any authors that have this kind of thinking?
>>5665376I do think so. Could be a dying thing. We need to keep it alive :D
>>5617978Does anyone have any British themed Gondolas? I'm not really particular as to the area, I just want to send them to my RAF friend.t. burger
>>5665627Lao Tse

>>5652290Nice!!
>>5669761no gondola
What I lack in artistic talent, I make up for in gradients.
Hope I didn't make this one too easy. It's way more dense than the busy town one, but I feel like gondola is more obvious. Good luck and have fun either way.
>>5670835lol found him on the bench as soon as webm went full screen
>>5670835these are really cool anon! keep it up!also bump
>>5671409Yeah, I figured as much. Doesn't help that it full screens straight to that portion of the picture. Here's a variation, anyway. Hopefully the quality hasn't suffered, I have no idea why but my other attempts using more or less the same picture and settings are coming out with artifacts.
>>5671710Took me a little bit longer to find him that time. Using just his head added a little bit to the difficulty. As far as artifacts: are you lowering the FPS of the webm to 1? That should stop the encoder from artifacting the picture on low bitrates to save room.
>>5617978I collect these and share them with a groupchat for the Gondola coin crypto currency lol.
>>5671941you are a babboon on so many levels.
>>5627734Goddamn, glad I decided to take a peek in the thread for once. Been years since I've read one of these, and always wondered what the sauce was.Thanks.
>>5665376Probably. Gondola was never especially popular to begin with; a lot of people are too sincerity-averse, and a lot more are too afraid to slow down. Gondola is old, and fundamentally tied to a place that no longer exists. The old forums are dead and gone; this website, too, is circling the drain. It's entropy--the cultural context which created and spread Gondola is gone. You can try all you like to keep it alive, but your efforts will be fractured and ever smaller. So long as there never comes a time when Gondola no longer needs us, there will come a time when we no longer need him. C'est la vie, everyone's appointed once to die. It's best not to worry about it, and to focus on creating instead.
>>5671931Nta but >lowering the FPS of the webm to 1Can you not just make the webm 1 frame for the entire duration? I thought this was supported
>>5630048I loved it too bro
>>5670968I just discovered this song so I couldn't help myself
heres a spooky one, i have a couple of these guys saved from a bit ago :)

>>5617978Please tell me what the song in this one is. I love it so much. Sounds like mabinogi or maplestory but cant really catch it
>>5677680It is boat quay town - Maplestory.
Gondola OC Challenge:>draw an original autumnal gondola >pick some fitting music>post here Doesn't matter if you can't really draw very well, or if it's done in ms paint with your mouse, as long as you drew it and tried your best. Make it a basic animation if you feel making that extra effort. Literally all you need is 2 frames to give some movement (see >>5677603 for a great example). I'll post my own sometime soon, hopefully.
>>5681272Okay :)

>>5687609Sweet, but why the high-pitched earrape when the song is over?
>>5687630Thats just Soundcloud moving on to a random track I just happened to have favorited. Its actually preset data for an Akai AX80 synth (think old phone modem tech) that you can use to play into the synth should it lose battery power. I happen to own one so I just have it favorited in case I need it.

>>5634756Imagine being a teenager in a sleepy italian town on the caspian, riding your bike down to the docks after school and "working" (lounging) at your grandpa's shop until supper. When a mysterious girl (not from his classroom) paddles across his sight during a low tide, the only other disturbances being the slightest breeze, the slightest seagull chirp, and the slightest ripples from her wake, what would that boy be thinking?
