You can try to live on the outskirts or a quiet suburb, there's a reason that people with any money pay premium for these. There are basic things you give up on when living in a sardine can building, the noise, dirt, people are meaner, less caring and patient, you get lots of strangers walking your streets, also when you cant find a parking spot when you come back from work i think it fucks with your primal brain. When your view from the window is another building and the inside of your apartment is dark you become depressed. I pay much more to live in a nice neighborhood on the edge of the city currently to negate all of those thing, about 35% more.
