I noticed some thumbnails on my desktop weren't appearing so I deleted the thumbnail cache... horrible mistake.
Now every time I open a folder with hundreds of images, explorer gets unresponsive and the thumbnails don't load.
I tried reinstalling windows but that didn't even help.
