I've been trying to connect with music more recently and what I really want to find is more albums that have a certain authentic sadness/melancholic/weighty feel to them that seems to be quite hard to find. A lot of music I find along the way feels very on the nose and insincere like it's not really coming from anyone's experience, it's made for mass appeal, or it's the anthem of the kid who lives a cushy life who's depression comes solely because he just discovered his local hot topic was closing. I can't really explain what I'm looking for with the genre/genres, which is why I'm asking this question in the first place of course, so I'll use the greentexts below as kind of pointers to what I'm looking for.
>album by someone who's seen some shit but still has a shred of hope for humanity
>songs with a clearly satirical saccharine view on life
>anything shoegazey or hazy
>Outkast's "Hey Ya" where the lyrics tell a sad story even if the song is upbeat
>music that, if played in a happy setting would feel happy but played in an unhappy one wouldn't seem tonedeaf
What I'm not looking for would be
>"Back from the discomfort, we're alright" or whatever that album is called where there's a bunch of screaming
>music made by women about things a regular guy wouldn't care at all about like breaking up with her 30th boyfriend
>songs that would probably get me weird looks or make people feel like they awkwardly have to say something like "yo you good bro?"
And that's it I guess. Sorry for rambling.

"Tears in Heaven" is a song by English guitarist, singer, and songwriter Eric Clapton and Will Jennings, written about the death of Clapton's four-year-old son, Conor.
> It appeared on the 1991 Rush film soundtrack.
> In January 1992, Clapton performed the song in front of an audience at Bray Studios, Berkshire, England for MTV Unplugged, with the recording appearing on his Unplugged album.
