Hello, I'm a 4th-year biomedical design engineering student(Gajin), and I want to intern at a Japanese biomedical firm starting from May next year.My Japanese skills are non-existent, but I have some experience in the field. >>1487134Your university should have an outplacement office. That's the same place where you go sign up to receive interview room slots from various companies. They should have advisory services AS WELL AS RESEARCH DOCUMENTS and books and articles about placement in various fields. My university had all that as well as consulation services for free to all graduating seniors. Another is to look at the various scholastic accomplishments of various other biomedical scientists in Japan. That will probably be a sign of the things such a company looks for.The main problem about getting internships in a foreign country is that you will be exposed to company secrets and then take those with you to another employer. I have no advice over how to overcome that because it is a natural part of corporate security. My corporate employer is much the same way in our R&D departments and projects for certain clients who set additional security concerns. Currently, Japan has problems with espionage of company secrets from other asian countries in particular Taiwan, China, Singapore. So getting hired by a Japanese, EU, or USA firm has to overcome that problem. Those countries of China and Singapore are also vicious about those who quit employment as seen in the story of Dr Shane Todd who was hired by Huawei through an "unrelated" company in Singpore to avoid technology transfer laws. The gallium nitride tech Dr Todd worked on was usable in military applications and is now in China's J-20 "stealth" fighter's radar.
