I got a new battery for my Iphone 13 Mini at an Apple Store on November 10th. Ever since then my phone ran like crap, it would just shut down sporadically. The accelerometer was also wonky. So I took it to the Apple store and the Genius couldn't run a diagnostic on the motherboard. He told me to try to update to iOS 18.x, but I couldn't because my phone continued to randomly reset. Another genius tried to push the update via a Macbook and it reset during the process ruining the phone. At home I couldn't update or restore the phone.

I don't have apple care, but I bought both the phone and the battery upgrade from the same Apple store.

What recourse do I have? Will they at least give me a deep discount on a new iphone 16?

that I would even make a claim. They say for the best results to login into your apple account. But then it tries to use 2 factor authentication with my bricked phone which is a dead end for me... I actually have a landline phone(many don't) and after I asked them to call me, a female AI voiced an authentication code. I type it in and that is to merely set up an alternative phone number for two factor authentication but it will take over a day...

I looked up Apple's Apple Inc. Repair Terms & Conditions.

They say they are not responsible for loss of data or loss of income from not having your Apple devices. I have a reasonably recent backup that I made on November 9th or 10th, so I will not lose much data.

But they seem to imply that they are liable for any issues that arise that lead to damage of the products in the repair process:

But what do they mean by that in actual practice? And how do I go about making such a claim?

that means they should replace your phone or give you a credit for the cost of the phone that was ruined. i hope you have some kind of proof that the geniuses at the apple store bricked your phone.

I ended up getting a discounted iPhone 16. They gave me the maximum $200 trade in value for my iPhone 13. They also refunded the $89 battery upgrade. A manager also offered me a free one if their overpriced $50+ lifetime guaranteed screen protectors.

I inquired with a Genius about a replacement and he told me that they will offer like for like. And they don’t sell iPhone 13 minis to offer one.

Customer support wasn't any help, they told to go to an Apple Store. I was lucky I was in a country with an Apple store, one is very close to my house and that I work hours where I was able to go there a little bit before 2 pm when there wasn't much of a wait time.
