My laptop is almost constantly hot. I've cleaned out the fans, but it still hasn't fixed anything. Do you think it's the vents themselves? I just need advice or ideas.
Depends on the age, the thermal grease stuff can dry out and no amount of room temperature air is going to cool it down properly.
>>1500176>constantly hotyou mean when idle? give more infoalso what do you mean hot, how hot? what surface do you keep it on?Sorry if these questions are retarded but most of the people complaining about their laptops running hot are animals who don't know anything about how to handle a laptop, plus, you didn't give enough info.
>>1500176Just the fans? What about where ever else dust has accumulated? You may need to change thermal grease and pads. After the above, if your laptop pulls air from the bottom, you may need to elevate it for unrestricted air flow. A laptop cooler or stand helps.
when's the last time you reformatted windozecheck shit like your cpu usage and maybe get CPUID to see if there's anything weird going on under the hood, check task manager for any programs you didn't install that could be malware, etcevery now and then windows just can't maintain itself correctly and starts fucking up, so it's good practice to do a backup of all your important data and reformat your windows partition once every 1-2 years
>>1500181This, and cleaning the heatsink are the way to go, about every six months, depending on how frequently you use it and how dirty your house is. Could probably reduce the frequency of the cleanings if you have a hepa filter running.
>>1500176try replacing the thermal paste with ptm7950 and then use throttlestop to limit the power usage.
