I tried connecting my PS3 to a CRT TV using composite and had no video output. I tried plugin it back to my TV and cant get the video to reset back to using HDMI output. I tried holding the power button until I hear a double beep and still no output. The controller that is connected using a usb cable just keeps blinking.I think the issue might be that I need to find some display that is actually 1080p. The TV I have is 4k and a PC monitor I use is 2k.
>>1505808Well I now tried a display that is 1080p and I still cant get the video output to reset.
Do you think I can reset the video out If I remove the internal cmos battery and put it back?
>>1505808>If the video output settings do not match those required for the TV in use, the screen may go blank when the resolution is changed. The screen should, however, automatically go back to its original resolution after a while. If the screen remains blank for more than 30 seconds, turn off the system. Then touch the power button on the system front for at least five seconds to turn the system on again. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution. The PS3 is annoying when it fails to change resolution. The above quote sounds like what I did when I had exactly your situation
>>1505814I'm starting to think my PS3 is fucked. I've tried several times doing what you suggested. Using different HDMI cables and displays. No luck. I don't plan on buying another used PS3. These things are a headache to maintain in working condition.
>>1505815I'm still going to try more repairs and look at the HDMI chip to see if it needs replacing. I have a second PS3 that I have for parts I plan on practicing first if it is the chip that controls the HDMI out. This PS3 slim has been nothing but headaches. I just replaced the disc drive not that long ago. Sucks that I recently installed a 1tb ssd on it loaded with games.
Random, probably useless, but can't hurt to try. When you try and boot it up, have your controller connected with a different usb cable. That was an issue when I had a PS4 stuck failing to boot...
>>1505818I'm not sure but that might have helped. Since I also switched the usb cord I was using. Here was the process to get the hdmi working again. 1. Unplug PS3 from outlet2. Wait around for a while 30m - 1hr 3. Power on while holding down the power button I used a 1080p display that didn't have some time out feature when there was no signal.
>>1505843>3. Power on while holding down the power buttonI did this until hearing a second beep.
>>1505843NVM the PS3 is still acting weird. I was able to get to the HDMI select screen but it didnt save the settings. Shit froze and I had to reset the console and the HDMI settings weren't saved.I think at this point there might be some issue with the power supply or maybe the cord itself. I have a second power supply so I might just switch it out. It will take me some time to get another power cord.
>>1505846Seems like the console has RSX issues from looking up my current problems. I'm seeing vertical white lines and the game freezing in the middle of a game. I don't think there is anything I can do at this point its just trash. I have no clue how I got from a working PS3 to a dead PS3. If I ever buy another PS3 it has to be one kept in decent shape.
