᲼•᲼uninstall Google Chrome ;
᲼•᲼install MS Edge instead ;
᲼•᲼tear hair out in frustration ;
᲼•᲼demolish offending device(s) with sledge-hammer & bin all the bits (of hardware, with or without the binary digits) ;
᲼•᲼purchase traditional paper-based magazine(s) from reputable newsagent(s) ;
᲼•᲼hang magazines, in usual rest-room, on a loop of string ;
᲼•᲼tear individual mazazine sheets off, to use as emergency toilet paper.

I first tried the "reset all" button. I relaunched Chrome. Then I tried Disabled from the drop down menu. I relaunched Chrome again. The reader still looks like this (see 2nd reply).
