I'm looking to upgrade my PC but I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to how things currently are in terms of what hardware is recommended or not.
Friend recommended me the Ryzen 5 7600 for my CPU but I've never had an AMD processor before.
I'm wary about it because I've heard things about high idle power consumption and performance issues/inconsistencies with AMD, see some of the things said in the plebbit thread below:

However I know that the 12th/13th/14th gen intel chips apparently suck ass and Intel have gone to shit.
So what should I get? I'm upgrading from an i5 8400.
