Back in the 90's when I was in preschool, my mother used to work all day almost every day. Yet despite how long and hard she worked, we were very poor. The weird thing is that Lisa and James would come late at night sometimes when mom was sleeping and insist that I come play, but I would shoo them away, knowing that mommy needed her rest. They were not nice kids at all, and like to banter and cause trouble.One thing they always kept insisting was for me to play in the basement with them, but the basement was creepy and dark. No kids should be playing down there. So I would firmly refuse them every time. Many years later, as a young adult, I visited our old home. I told the new owners that I used to live there years ago with my mom, and they looked at me with a puzzled gaze. It turns out that house was used as a daycare by the previous owners, but was condemned due to children who got sick and died from a gas leak in the basement.
