How do I become good at card reading? Some friends got into it recently and it looks interesting.

I'm learning right now. I study one card each day and do daily readings for myself and others. Get a book that breaks down the major and minor arcana. Usually the little guidebooks that come with decks are pretty limited.

Sad but true
I gave up because i couldnt fake it till i make it
I prefer palmistry. At least i don't have to try to convince myself that i believe in it

If you want to get into this seriously and just as an emo girl, then you need to delve deeply into the works of Paul foster case and you could consider joining the builders of the adytum. Also, I would highly recommend reading a rare old work called “the mystic test book” which should prove most illuminating

Thoth Tarot is different than regular Tarot, which is referred to specifically as the Rider-Waite deck. There are lots of different styles of decks used for readings out there.

Just get a standard book on the Rider-Waite tarot, they're widely available and not too expensive. Or, you can use websites by just searching "tarot meanings."

forget spreads, forget pure randomness. you can get some inspiration like significators but don't sperg this

> get the thoth deck, it is easier because every card has a one-word interpretation
> duquettes book is best for the thoth deck, but for simple readings / guidance you only need the divinatory meanings in the back. forget the "mirror of the soul book" that gets recommended, it's very rose-tinted-new-agy; I ended up returning it
> depending on your inclination ask god for guidance before reading
> intuition is important, good if in your socialization you did not kill it (by being an NPC or not female)
> keep question clearly in mind, needs to be answerable by the cards; yes/no does not work
> you will "feel" the right card(s)

case / bota is an excellent recommendation but won't tell you how to do card readings (until you are years in at least). it's about something different and you either feel the pull towards it or not. if you don't, stay away.

if you like the cards by pamela smith I recommend getting the centennial deck

It took me a couple months but the best thing to do is look around the internet for interpretation. You will find fuller and more in-depth interpretations for the major arcana. The minor arcana are harder to learn about as quickly but there is a lot of learning material out there. Countless books on tarot have been made.

For some reason Labyrinthos always seems accurate to me.

Anything by Corrine Kenner, very comprehensive and engaging, her stuff can be expensive though but I was lucky and found a few of her books and the matching deck at an old house my cousin was moving out of.

Divination as a practice is more dependant on the practitioner than the method. There are people out there that divine by simply watching the wind or flocks of birds. This principle applies to more than just divination; but if you don't believe in what you're doing, it will not work.
