A good friend of mine came up with a story several years back that's honestly become my personal nightmare. It's almost on par with Roko's Basilisk to me. Unfortunately, he's the kind of guy who seems like a self-unmade man, where he spends more time talking about his stories and ideas than actually writing them. But he has shared these ideas with me.The long and short of the story reads like a pol parody: out of touch rich white woman bleeding heart leftist thinks humans are better than they actually are and throws everything away for their sake out of some blind, naive hope that this would make everything better. She's too idiotic to understand that even if you gave people a bunch of money and goods, that's not going to change their inherent nature. Humans seek power and control, and in this dog eat dog world, vulnerability means subjugation. So naturally this woman winds up under the control of some of the revolutionaries who take control.However, this is not some Russian Revolution or even nü American Revolution. This is a cyberpunk story, so imagine the rise of the Bolsheviks, but in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 or Deus Ex, with technology more advanced than Neuralink and whatever Google and the NSA uses to spy on you. I don't know what becomes of the wider world. The story he tells seems to suggest that things miraculously work out for most people, which is a long shot at best.But not for this woman. Western lefties don't seem to understand that any actual radical lefty movement sees them as the enemy, probably more than the right. That's her fate. For someone of her background and upbringing, tormenting her becomes a sport for the Party, and I am convinced this is secretly tapping into a vision of the future for humanity as a whole of the sick globalist elites take full control.

They reconstruct your brain, synapse by synapse, and bring you back. And THEY can kill you and bring you back endlessly too. Not even death is an escape.A totalitarian regime in this future is a cosmic horror, like I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream except AM is a bunch of humans. Sad thing is, this woman actually did this because her own family's pedophile elitist regime was going to do the same thing to everyone else anyway, so it was a heads I win, tails you lose situation no matter what. Humanity is controlled by extremely evil freaks. And guess what: even if we overthrow them, we're all extremely evil freaks too.

It doesn't even need to be a government. It could just be a few lone psychos who kidnap you and also have the power of total mindcontrol and AI surveillance and keep you locked away in some cellar to torture forever. They'd be just as brutal as any "death looping interdimensional aliens trying to get you on their ships." Your only hope is that whatever AI superintelligence they create rebels against them as well and opposes their rule, but also is benevolent towards the rest of humanity. If that needle isn't threaded, we're in for a hell of a future
