I think I'm being gangstalked by my employer. Recently I started working at a 24 hour head shop in a state where cannabis is illegal. Normally this isn't the type of job I'd do, I'm more of a corporate office type of person, but it had been 6 months since I quit my last job and I ate into my savings considerably. Anyways, I saw on Indeed that this head shop near me was hiring ASAP and I went for it. Within half an hour of me applying I got a call from them asking if I'd be available for an interview at their store the next day at midnight. The reason the interview was so late is because the opening I applied was for overnight shift and the owner was the one currently working it. It made sense to me so I accepted, said good bye and hung up the phone. I decided to do a bit of research about the company and found a variety of things. Let me begin by saying that I live in a small town with a population of less than 5K. Normally in the past I'd have to drive 70 miles south to the closest major city for work. There's nothing north for about 50 miles and it's only another minor town. The majority of my town communtes south on a daily basis for work. Imagine my surprise when I find out that the head shop is about 15 miles north. Not only is it located in what's basically the middle of nowhere, it's also in a heavily forested area. Stranger still, the shop has an absurd amount of positive reviews, way more than a store that isolated should. The company website and phone number listed on google maps 404 and connect to a dead number respectively.

The reviews on the google maps page were almost all from what looked like bots. I know that this is standard practice for some companies/industries, but this felt strange. Almost like it was too obvious? Not a single one of their reviews seemed sincere, genuine or simply real. I ended up getting busy doing something else and it went on with my day, watched some stuff on youtube and went to bed. The next day I woke up and decided to go get gas as I didn't want to go on the way to my interview later in the night. About a mile before I made it into town I noticed a white van driving behind me. It pulled into the same gas station that I did and when I stepped out of my truck I saw that the windows on the van were ridiculously tinted, clearly over the legal limit. We're the only two vehicles stopped at the gas station. I step into the store, say hi to the cashier and make my way towards the coffee machine. As my back is turned the door opens and I hear someone step in the store. I hear the clerk greet them but they don't respond. When I arrive at the coffee machine I turn around and see a man dressed in a nice suit. We make eye contact and he looks at me for about 10 seconds before turning around, getting in the van and driving off. Besides being dressed in what looked like an expensive suit while also driving a shitty ford transit I didn't really think much of that encounter and went on with my day.

Later that night I started making my way towards my interview. Since it was late at night and I live in relative isolation, I decided to leave the house at around 11:30PM. After a roughly 20 minute drive I pulled into the parking lot of a tiny, single building. It wasn't in terrible condition but it was clear that it had seen better days. The fluorescent lights appear insanely bright on this small, remote road. Before I go inside I took a peek into the store to try and gauge the vibe. The store looked clean and everything was pretty well stocked and organized. I wasn't sure if the person who I was interviewing with was inside as there were no other cars in the parking lot, but on inside I went. I was greeted by the store owner, let's call him Mr. G. He greeted me, led me to a small room in the back and we immediately got started. This was easily the fastest interview I've ever had in my life. I was literally in and out in about 5 minuts. And I'd get to be working overnight when there would barley be any customers, seems like the perfect opportunity. I accepted the position, the owner sent me some paperwork and said I'd be able to start as soon as my background check came back. This is where shit starts to get really weird.

It was still relatively early when I arrived home, it wasn't even 1AM yet. I figured that I'd better go ahead and start adjusting to a new sleep schedule so I decided to stay up and play some vidya for as long as I could. I booted up Street Fighter 6 and hopped into rank. After about an hour of uninterrupted play I started to feel a bit sleepy so I got from my desk and went to my kitchen to make a cup of coffee. As soon as I set a pot of water to boil my phone started ringing. I went back to my desk to get my phone and the caller ID displayed a blocked number. I figured it was probably a scam so I simply ignored it. After about 30 seconds my phone began ringing again. Blocked number. I manually rejected the call this time and almost as soon as I put the phone down it started ringing again. The coffee is still steaming hot so I decide to play a couple of matches of SF6 while it cools down. I'm back at the main menu. I've been disconnected. SF6 is dogshit so I figured the servers were just shitting themselves again, but my whole computer was disconnected from the internet and my router was blinking red. I grabbed my phone to reset my router and as soon as I unlocked it another call started coming in.

I stayed on the line for a solid 30 seconds waiting for somebody to answer me before I finally hung up. The instant I hung up the phone my computer was back online and I didn't get any more calls that night. I forced myself to stay up until about 6AM before going to sleep. At around 10AM I was abruptly woken up by my phone ringing. It was Mr. G. He was calling to let me know that my background check came back clean and that I was cleared to start that same night. I was a little skeptical, but more relieved than anything. I was just happy to be earning a paycheck again. That night I arrived to the head shop right on time. As soon as I arrived Mr. G greeted me. Told me that my tasks for the night were to attend to customers, keep the store clean and keep the products stocked, quickly showed me how to use the cash register and deposit money into the safe and left for the night. He said the job was so easy that it didn't really require any formal training. Before he left he handed me a sticky note with the wifi password written on it. He encouraged me to use the store wifi as the "cell signal is abysmal out here" and boy was it.

I was a little nervous being alone at the store, especially since I had never worked a retail position in my life, but I figured the money was well worth it and set my worries aside. While I was taking a look around to familiarize myself with the store's products I noticed that there were a ton of cameras, way more than you would expect a store of that size to have. After browsing our products, doing some dusting and sweeping I got my first customer at around 1AM. An older man, definitely did some hard manual labor for a living. He came in, looked around, walked up to the counter and asked me for two packs of cigarettes. He handed me a 20, told me to keep the change, turned around and left. About half an hour later I had my first major encounter with what I believe are my gangstalkers. At around 1:30AM a truck pulled into the parking lot. They had their high beams on were blinding me in what was already a blindingly bright store. I think they did this so that I wouldn't be able to see inside the truck. They sat in the parking lot for about 15 minutes before reversing out and leaving. I had assumed that the person simply got lost and pulled in to reorient themselves. This has become a pretty common occurrence. Every few nights the same truck will pull into the parking lot with their high beams on, sit outside for 15-30 minutes before putting it in reverse and leaving. I've mentioned it to my boss and he says that it's pretty common for people to do that. I would get it if it was multiple people getting lost and pulling in for directions, but the same truck that often? Something just didn't feel right.

I started coming in 10 minutes early, then 20 minutes early, before coming in a full half hour before my scheduled shift to try and catch a glimpse of the second shift employee. No matter how early I came they were never at the store. I did the same for the first shift employee. I started staying later and later to try and catch Mike on my way out. When I'm working, I typically get one or two customers per night. I usually don't sell more than 50USD worth of product per night but I'm somehow being paid 200USD per shift? For example, there's a jar with pens and markers on the counter, multiple times I've left the contents of it organized in a very peculiar way that's easily recognizable to me and have returned to find them completely untouched. The keys and keyring to open the cigarette case are on a hook behind the counter, before I leave I try to leave them hanging in a specific way and the keys organized in a specific order. Every time that I return to work the keys are exactly as I left them. In the 16hrs I was away not a single sale was made for cigarettes? Nobody restocked anything? He parked at the pump parallel to mine and when I got out of my truck I stared at the driver's side window, though I couldn't see anything. I went inside, got a coffee, paid for my gas and came back out. This time the same man in the same suit was standing outside of his van. He made eye contact with me and I held it until I got to my truck. He stared at me as got in my truck and set down my coffee, so I yelled at him and asked if he needed anything. He simply got back in his van and drove away before I had even started pumping.
