Guys I need your /x/pert opinions on something

I was talking about tarot cards today and I got curious about who actually drew the set most people are familiar with, obviously there have been many different artists over the years but one set seems to be particularly iconic, the Waite–Smith Tarot deck. the illustrations are the ones most people picture when tarot cards are brought up
Google directed me to this woman, Pamela Colman Smith, the illustrator of said cards.

But something about her photograph got the schizo-gears in my brain a turning. Her face looks heavily airbrushed. the shadows and contrast don't match the rest of the photo at all, is it possible this woman was made up?

People airbrush photos to make them flattering, this pic is especially unflattering though to how she actually looked and I think she was way older anyway

no dude she was a brilliant artist, illustrated shakespeare too, there's biographies of her. nice metaphor for her erasure though, everyone called it the Rider-Waite deck for the longest time after the publisher and the guy who wrote the book to go with the deck, she's finally getting the recognition she deserves

Nobody likes to see a successful woman. They're better as objects and things get weird when you realize they are capable of independent thoughts and skills.

I never said she was a brilliant artist, but men really get their asses chapped over a woman doing anything of note, which is exactly why her name was stifled until recently and OP thinks she's not even real.
