So I have a question about Sigils. From what I understand they've been used in rituals, religious practices, magic, and anything else that involves some form of mysticism or spirituality. I wanted to try one out to achieve a personal goalThe thing I don't get is that making a sigil doesn't seem to have a uniform method. There's one that uses numbers in a box, another that uses different numbers in a circle, writing out a phrase and turning it into a picture etc etc...So I ask, can you make a sigil incorrectly? Are there actual rules? Here's an example of one I made, it's based on a phrase which I scrambled into an abstract design. Any of you folks knowledgeable on this stuff?
>>39624684looks fin--wait... That line is slightly off...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! YOU HAVE ROYALLY SCREWED UP OH SHIT OH FUCK
>>39625044Lol but yeah that's what I can't figure out, what exactly governs why an image or shapes do the things we want them to do? Does it have something to do with sacred geometry? The call back to ancient languages? Whats stopping someone from just doodling a cat and then calling it a sigil? By this logic "0w0" could be a sigil
>>39624684I would pronounce that sigil as>meumal la-meum-meum
>>39625239You can pronounce sigil names?How?
>>39624684>Any of you folks knowledgeable on this stuff?Yes, and if you do such things there is a price. Not for you personally and immediately, but it is what you might call a deadly sin. Sigils sometimes work, if you agree on a deal with "demons". It is the childish way to try and forge reality around you, the obvious way for those who are unable to externalize everything. The sigil itself is irrelevant, lines on paper that have zero use, meaning or functionality outside your mind. It's a crutch for spiritlets.
>>39625882*unable to STOP externalizing everything.
>>39624684There's another kind of sigil. One that a spirit might present to you as its identifier for subsequent contact. The methods you mentioned are all workable so long as it relates back to an actual spirit or "energy". The one you construct from a phrase you compose yourself tend to be your own mind-born servitors unless a pre-existing spirit has somehow latched on to your operation.
>>39625882That's some good insight there. For myself in particular I'm not trying to summon anything at all. What I figured is that is was a way to sort of "collect" or "focus" associated energies to help mentally fuel myself for self improvement.I'm also quite skeptical of a lot of this particular practice since I always see these women practicing "witchcraft" when it's obvious they are so uninitiated and unhinged that I felt it was all bullshit. But my mind sort of changed as I started looking into metaphysics, Ars Gotia, Liber Null, the Kybalion etc.... I can't help but feel that there IS something to this, but it's all obscured by idiots trying to summon a succubus or something... "A crutch for the spiritless" is an apt way of putting it
>>39625984Also I wanted to state that I know there's a big difference with the sigils/seals used by Solomon as those were "presented" to him. And most other magical practices have passed down sigils that were created by man, passed down and recorded. The more I read on this stuff the more fascinated I become in it
>>39626149A further note: the sigils or seals you find in grimoires aren't always set in stone. Sometimes you contact a spirit and it modifies the sigil you used to conjure it. For me this happened with the Arbatel.
>>39625180>what exactly governs why an image or shapes do the things we want them to doIt's just a way to "get your mind into it". Literally or figuratively. Imagine being in a boring work meeting. You're literally not there. And you don't have to be. But for "magic" to work, it has to be the opposite of routine. Or so I'm told.
>>39626279This makes a lot of sense to me, most magic exists (for mortals anyways) within the mental plane. So a sigil is more or less an arbitrary way to focus on channel ones own will/spirit? Like how mathematics are an arbitrary system we created to understand the physical plane. Or perhaps more like how we use a tool to write down our thoughts and intentions. Am I getting it?
>>39626352>Like how mathematics are an arbitrary systemWell, no. Notations can differ, but math is still math. A theorem that's true in one notation is still true in the other. How does a tarot reading work? Each card already comes with predefined meaning and symbolism, but the meaning of a reading as a whole is unique each time. It's a rorschach test for the mind to spot what the cards are saying to you in that give moment. >arbitraryIndividual minds are pretty arbitrary things. The collective unconscious, from which they all spring, is not. A foundational belief of magic is that mind and matter come from the same thing. Unus mundus. It's how you can justify certain subjective experiences being correlated with objective changes in the world around us. Without this belief, magic is mere psychological exercise or larping. Still, not without its use. So it's "arbitrary" (somewhat), but its aim is not to sink deeper into individual subjectivity. but instead climb "back up" towards the unus mundus. That's the aim, at least. You're using the arbitrary to undo the arbitrary.
>>39624684This isn't arbitrary stuff, anon. You have some creative license, but there are rules because the angles of the shapes in the sigils themselves hold magical tension that you as a sorcerer must release through fervic tantra. This is why many use drugs, sex, and violence to commune.Listen, there is ONE spiritual force in the world. Only one. Read the book of smokeless fire. It will tell you a lot of things you may wish to know. Compare it to goetia. Realize the forces of "magic" are beyond humans. Magic is real, however YOU cannot do it. Fallen angels do it for you, and you're literally better off picking up your Bible and praying. The deal is simple: they will serve you until death. When you die, you are resurrected as a shade and will serve your former servant for the duration of its life. It has been alive since long before this planet. Get away from this magic larping and seek christ. Doubt me? Look up Robert Morneau. Verification was, you know, not required. Because God got my faggotry through. Christ is king.
>>39630077So relieving reading this. Great post.
>>39624684Custom magic is based don't be scared anon. Put in magic and it will pour forth outwards. Good luck
>>39630077
>>39625882not all sigils are demonic shit tho
>>39624684>Are there actual rules?Usually you just encompass letters of the word of either the ritual or the specific thing you want, are you using this for physical attributes or things that you could have the potential to achieve?
