Hey everyone!I’m looking for recommendations for a beginner-friendly book that introduces Western Esotericism/Occultism and Magick. Ideally, I want something that balances theory and practice, covering essential skills like meditation, breath work, visualization, energy work, divination, and invocation. A clear progression path—building psychic, spiritual, and magical foundations to confidently approach more advanced grimoires and traditions—would be perfect.I’ve heard great things about Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon, and I’m considering starting there since it seems structured and comprehensive. However, I’m not sure if it’s beginner-friendly.Previously, I worked partially through The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Christopher Penczak and tried some GoM ritual workings. While I respect the witchcraft tradition, it wasn’t the best fit for me. I’m looking for something rooted in the broader Western Esoteric Tradition—more neutral or traditional than paths like Wicca or Witchcraft.Books like The Tree of Life by Israel Regardie, Advanced Magick for Beginners by Alan Chapman, Modern Magick by Donald Michael Kraig, and the Quareia Course seem close, blending theory with practical steps for spiritual development. But I’d love suggestions from those with more experience.Which books build solid foundations in the Western Esoteric Tradition? My goal is to first develop spiritual senses and skills, then study the broader tradition. I was considering Initiation into Hermetics as a starting point, followed by Agrippa or The Secret Teachings of All Ages for a more comprehensive overview. What do you think? If you’ve worked with any books fitting this description—or others you’d recommend as excellent introductions to the Western esoteric tradition, equipping you for deeper studies later—I’d greatly appreciate your insights.Thank you in advance for your recommendations!
