What are some good books for mastering jhanas, samadhi, N.O.X, wajd, 3 kundalinis, or 9 grades of prayer?
>>
Words are just symbols, a part of samsara, tied to the cycle of delusion and suffering. In Buddhism, clinging to language as truth is a mistake; words can only point to reality, never embody it. The Buddha taught that attachment to concepts and doctrines traps the mind in illusion, obstructing direct insight. Contrast this with Christianity, which idolizes "the Word," treating scripture as divine truth rather than recognizing it as a flawed, human attempt to describe the ineffable. This obsession with written language reinforces delusion, keeping followers chained to secondhand stories instead of seeking direct understanding. Buddhism shatters this illusion, emphasizing liberation through direct experience, not blind faith in words.

To be fair "the word" is the logos in the original Greek, which gives those verses a lot more esoteric weight. Actually the word itself is somewhat esoteric if you've already opened to mysticism, Om.

Nitpicking aside, you are correct though. Most people of all paths are lost in the symbolic understanding of reality(most buddhists included). There is some utility in knowledge, words, and mind, but that really has to do with the seeker and their relation to the world. Everyone comes to understand the emptiness of form eventually.
