Shinto, the traditional religion of Japan, holds the belief that everything in the natural world possesses a spiritual essence or soul, known as kami. Kami are not just deities but can also be spirits or forces found in natural elements like mountains, rivers, trees, rocks, animals, and even objects. This belief is part of a worldview called animism, which sees all things as interconnected and alive in a spiritual sense. Shinto emphasizes harmony with nature, reverence for these spirits, and rituals to honor and appease them.
>>39649453I dunno what OP's point is, but for anyone interested, pick up a copy of The Catalpa Bow. It's written by a lady who went to Japan in the 60s to do a lot of research on folk beliefs and religions. She writes about witnessing exorcisms, ritualistic possessions, magic, all that stuff along with a bit of history. It's not a grimoire, but I think any real /x/phile would enjoy it.
Yes they are animists. Animism is probably the original belief system predating civilization with its god-kings.
>>39649453I forgot his name but some indian guru claimed that even inanimate objects are conscious to some degree. Claimed they're 1st level while humanity in general are 8th level. In between are flora and fauna. Some humans embody higher states of consciousness like the 9th level. The visonaries, prophets, innovators, etc. I wish i remembered his name...
Sounds gay
Anyone who unironically believes this should advocate for the complete destruction of nature

>>39649566And that is a compete lie. The image is of frogs swallowing something. They use their eyes to push down so whatever they ate can't crawl back out, which is even more disturbing than having eyes in their mouth, which would quickly kill them off if it was the case.
>>39650132Op here, frogs can also pule out their stomach to clean it.>>39649498I was just wanting to share a interesting fact that /x would appreciate.>>39649517Take your time I’m interested

>>39649453The US Government Christcucks in post-WWII Japan believed that Shinto could be made extinct by separating State-Shinto from government "support" of worshipping the god-Emperor. The non-State, god-Emperorless Shinto flourished! I hope they got brain-aneurysms over it.
Yup that’s basically exactly what the Irish believed. There’s spirits in the rocks, the hills, and even things like swords. The sword thing was also in the closely related Welsh culture as well which is where you get the Arthurian stuff with Excalibur.
>>39650472No? The idea of the Japanese Emperor as a “god-emperor” is a modern construct from the Meiji Restoration (1868–1912). It was created to unify Japan under nationalism and was central to State Shinto, portraying the Emperor as a divine ruler to justify loyalty and militarism. This concept peaked during World War II but was dismantled after Japan’s defeat, when Emperor Hirohito renounced his divine status in 1946. Historically, the Emperor’s role was more ceremonial, tied to Shinto as a descendant of the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu, but not as an absolute divine ruler.
