I wish to cultivate but I am paralyzed as to where to begin. My autism tells me to begin with a textbook because I desire and crave routine and structure.
I have 'The Way of Qigong' by Kenneth S. Cohen, and 'Chinese medical qigong therapy - A comprehensive clinical text'.
Any experience with any of the above and commentary would be appreciated. Any recommendations for other related qi exercises/routines/methodologies would be appreciated.

Thank you for reading. Good luck in everything you try.

not op here but got a question what is the 1st stel actually, I'll describe how I imagine it and correct the flaws allright?
so
crosslegged meditation no verbal thoughts straight spine tongue sticking to the palette but not forces bresrhing through diaphragm eyes closed focus on the belly button or 3cm deep 2cm under belly button hands comfertably in any mudra that lets you forget about them or in one on top of the ither with palms facing up. Relaxing whole body. imaging energy in the belly/"the other point".
breathing less and less until forgetting you are breathing(automatic breathing).
is that right?

I need to start meditating, for one. I also do not need to be judged for what I already know.
Addendum: I've had these texts for a while. They sit in my /x/ backlog among other related and non-related material. But I need to stop wasting time and figure this shit out. There's so much material I need to sit down and read but I lack the discipline.

The 2 most basic things one should learn are:
1) To calm the body and the breath
2) To direct the focus of your awareness

So meditation, progressive relaxation and breathwork. Become good at these for some months.
