Where are all the black champs?
>>212797Doesn't Jon Jones currently hold a belt/championship?
>>212936Yes but it's a propaganda shtick. Aspinall is the interim champ and Jones is scared of him and doesn't have to fight him. He's defending his titles against a retired grandpa who hasn't fought in five years while Aspinall is calling him out and is ready to go. Even the way he won the title looked bullshit (first round submission with 0 damage)He's a confirmed roidhead who never really got punished for it and instead propped up
>>212797They lost>>213660I'm pulling for Stipe to win because Stipe said he would fight Tom. I know it's a long shot but it would be very satisfying.
>>212797Same argument in boxing. The majority of black athletes who live in countries with combat sport opportunities are in the NFL, NBA and Football in the EU. Some black fighters today in the UFC are guys like Jamahal Hill who tried to make it as a basketball player first but failed so started MMA in his late 20's. Also guys like Ngannou and Izzy are immigrants who took on MMA at later points in their lives. Every now and then you get fighters like Jon Jones and Usman who wrestled but once again most inner city black kids get groomed into basketball or football. Even with that though about a year and a half ago 5 of the 8 champions were black but very quickly it switched up so it could switch up again at some point. As for now there doesn't seem to be many black fighters today who come from extensive competitive combat backgrounds like that of Jones and DC. There are many in Cuba though but due to Cuba's relationship with the US I doubt we'll see many in the UFC.
