Where are all of the yaoi hentai eroge? There’s basically nothing ever released that isn’t a visual novel- especially when you consider how many straight porn games come out every day. Imagine a David Cage game, but it’s a choose your own homoerotic gangbang.

Why is this such an untapped market? Do other gay guys not like jacking it to interactive porn?
>>
Gay men and women into watching men touching dicks aren't particularly profitable
>>
+ Less profitable because it's easy to go out and have loose sex with almost any gay man. Meanwhile straight men can't get laid and straight women need to worry about pregnancy, social standing, and being murdered. So yeah that's why there isn't more.
>>
>>3033234
doubt this considering the number of gay furry animation shit there is, which is expensive
>>
>>3033235
>furry
You answered your own doubts, you can't legally or ethically have sex with animals in most places. Degenerate fetish shit is overpaid in comms for a reason.
>>
>>3033239
well yeah, a good portion paying for them are gay men as well, and they can’t fuck pokemon wrestler cat irl. however, even the more normal guys also scrambled to make porn and some animations of Lucas Lee, a generic looking bara anime dude. cooming to barashit is probably better than having sex with middle aged balding men who vastly outnumber “bara” like men irl
>>
>>3033192
The real answer to this regardless is that yaoi/BL is probably considered more degenerate than hetshit and seen as more risky, but yeah, it could be a potential untapped market considering how profitable BL and gay baiting can be. Fujos will be the ones to buy out these games in particular
>>
>whines about vns

I agree. I wish there's non-visual, non-gacha and non-grinding gay games. I want an action adventure games with minimal role-playing and more interactive sex.
>>
every yaoi game is either:
long wind-up visual novel with 5 hours of story before any sex scenes
hardcore smut bara-only with rapid onset sex and weird fetishes like furry or scat
there is no inbetween

It's over...the only redeeming gay games that I played were gay furries despite I hate furries and repulsed by it or het games with good-looking male characters and game mechanics. I guess it'll be long for actual games will be made.
>>
>>3033192
we just gotta make do with nu carnival for now I guess
>>
>>3036732
Is that yaoi?
>>
Alicesoft made a few gay porn games back in the early 2000s but I don't think there's any copies of them online
>>
"Paradiso Guardian" seems promising but I haven't played it. It seems to be an action rpg with some sex scenes, and most importantly it's not a gatcha. Has someone played it? Is it good? I know beggars can't be choosers but still...

>>3036732
Nucarnival is hardly a game... I played it but dropped it after a while... The gameplay was really boring (turn based rpg battles that can be completed automatically) and the events were uselessly hard. The only redeeming feature of that game are the illustrations and outfit design, that were nice, and of course the sex scenes. They're quite good but unlocking them is a pain and they can be easily found online so I don't really recomend playing it...
>>
>>3035086
What would the in between even look like? Sounds like you just want sex in 2.5 hours instead of 5 hours.
>>
>>3033192
There's Abaddon, Princess of the Damned

unfortunately, everyone treats yaoi/gay media as a joke.
Or, they're quickly put off by how unsexy the anatomy of scene is and don't want to dissect it.

I'll try to adapt Baritachi by Draw-Two as an example.

Writing for RPGs means writing player goals.
>Talk to Npc, Go to location, Defeat enemy, ect...
And that direction is woven into everything else
>Character introduction, Setting, Plot

It's easy to imagine Baritachi as an RPG because it starts out with a swordsman for hire that slays demons. He kills a demon. Someone tries to steal his sword while he's washing it's blood off.
Sexual hijinks ensue.

I like Draw-Two's work. They're generally around 50 pages. There's a nice balance of action and exposition. But there's a number of issues when adapting a comic like this into a game.

First of all, like most porn, you got a lot nameless characters. You gotta name them. You got to have formal introductions
>"By the way, call me... {NAME INPUT}"
Depending on the scope of the game it also helps to name towns, kingdoms, continents, even planets and planes of existence. It's just lazy world building otherwise.

Second, some of the exposition is in the form of the swordsman talking to himself. It's very common in comics for characters to voice opinions and stuff in caption boxes. But that's not really "the style" for RPGs because the expectation is to utilize NPCs.
>>
>>3042093 (continued)
The third issue, related to that last part, is the fact that this story happens all in one place. In an English style script, scenes are divide by location. So this would all be one scene. But the French school of thought is to divide scenes by characters existing/entering, marking a change in conversation. "English & French" is just old school theater playwright terminology. I think it just means England had big stages, and France had big cast of characters.
Ideally, we'd have the swordsmen return to town after slaying a demon. Collect a bounty. Buy soap. Perhaps patterning a gameplay loop that would continue past the source material. It goes without saying you'll have to generate a lot more content to make an RPG experience.

Going past the source material might mean inventing personalities and backstories besides "gay and horny". A lot of people don't like thinking about what happens the morning after a one-night stand.
In this comic, the demon, who is manipulating the thief, conveniently shows up on it's own and is quickly dealt with. The intuitive logic for an RPG would be to find the demon's lair instead, and gradually build a bond between the swordsman and thief as they jump through hoops to get there.

Based on the handful of gay RPGs that I've played, anal intercourse between male party members is saved for the end. But whether that's rewarding or not depends on presentation. The swordsmen here is basically a top, so maybe he bottoms at the end. Not the most emotional character arc. Or maybe he was always eager to do it and was just repeatedly interrupted by {plot advancement}. So when it finally happens, it feels like an ending. Escaping the try-fail cycle with a success or at least something different.
>>
>>3042094
I believe English and French scene construction is important to think about because an RPG is somewhere in the middle with a lot of characters and locations.

The French style requires you to come up with ways to move the characters in and out.
>Knock at the door. Delivery.
>Oh no, my cookies are burning! Gotta go!

The English style changes places as well as advances time.
>Jan 14. 20XX 7am, Hall of Justice
>Five Years Later
>Meanwhile
>Flashback.

The flow of time in an RPG tends to be really fuzzy.
Not the Persona and Atelier games; they're a life/dating Sim hybrid. They have a time management system. I digress.
Time skips are convenient for developing relationships between characters offscreen instantly. Without actually explaining how that happened.
>No. Fuck you!
>3 weeks later
>Fuck me! Yes!

It's nice to give things time to happen in a natural way. But a French scene can also force characters to act out of the ordinary and in entertaining ways.
>"I'm being followed. Pretend to be my boyfriend."
>"What?"
>"Kiss me...NOW!"
>>
>>3042099
Thank you for the thoughtful discussion anon. I'm curious if there are hentai games that work within these constraints/subvert them, since you'd think most of the principles could be applied to yaoi games.

Not all games have a narrative. There's lots of porn games that are just eye candy.
>Walk into ogre
>Trigger fucked by ogre animation.

Games like that don't have a need for meaningful dialogue. Maybe you're familiar with the Humplex "Monthly Manfuls" flash games by Humbuged. There was no logic to the interactive choices. "Say: Hello" or "Touch: Bicep" meant the difference of a subject wearing a leopard print bikini or going commando.
The OCs with the most personality were the ones from Humbuged's "Keric Komplex". But he never completed that story arc pasted Chapter 3.
Gay games are cursed like that.

I think it's a skill issue. I think most people can transcribe basic character information into a scene. But beyond that, they don't know how to develop a character through sexapades.
I know it sounds absurd to ask how getting tentacle raped by a plant changes a character's relationship with their boyfriend. But that's narrative design.
Because maybe it's overlapping with a similar incident where he was tied up and people failed to act.
>"I won't fail you this time. Not again."
> *fails* "I fucked up. I'm sorry. You must think I'm useless."

I also think people form rigid character concepts in their head. So their characters are invulnerable power fantasies. They don't have childhoods. They don't have destinies. They don't have flaws or weakness. Or if they do, it's this forbidden secret that only top patreons are allowed to know, and it's not meant to be used as writing material.

>Writer: Just between us, he can't swim. But that's never an issue.
>Consultant: So just move the story to water so it can be.
>Writer: How dare you! Don't you ever try to depower my character again.

Or it can be the other way. Where a character is meant to be a loser and the writer is violently opposed to giving them any endearing qualities.
>Consultant: What if...
>Writer: He was made to suffer! He deserves nothing! Do not sympathize. Do not redeem.

With AI, I expected a flood of games with generated art. A bunch of communites were banning it a head of a "wave" that never happened.

Narratives are nice. I think the reason I hate most VNs is that they're meet n' greet snorefests.

The Player character goes somewhere: college, a campsite, a hotel/inn, a pub, a spa. Conveniently all these characters are there. And it's just a writing exercise in how many ways you can say "hello".
>>
>>3042147
Could a game like this be adapted into yaoi sex game?

maybe a remake of that rub rabbits ds game but gay? that would be nice, that was one of the first DS games I've ever played but was too young to realize it was some mature touch game

I could absolutely go for a Mugen Train Arc that develops characters through a series of vignettes.

In Demon Slayer they use a steam engine train as a stage for the fire and water fighting styles.
Get it? Fire and water make steam.
>>
>>3043342
I don't have any ideas for character dynamics, but you could do some meta-story about "steam".
>>
Speaking of steam, there's a bunch of gay VNs that showed up out of nowhere on it in the last couple years.

I feel like this warrants further exploration.

Indeed. By definition Y.A.O.I. is a vignette itself. In mangas, caption boxes often convey the p.o.v character's internal thoughts. Sometimes in the same panel as a thought bubble.
>[My mind was saying no, but my body was saying yes]
>{No!}
>"Yes!"
These are internal and visceral experiences. Which means no other characters can communicate that information unless they're psychic. So it's not an ideal format for a game, particularly rpgs.
The character could be retelling the event to someone as a flashback. A frame story like that requires a listener and an reason to share.
But that too is bad form for a video game. Many games have done it, of course. It's just, typically, gameplay is framed in the present moment.

You could absolutely have sex scenes in a game as found footage. A sex tape, for example. But it probably wouldn't be interactive. Maybe if you're adjusting the tracking on an old VHS player? Or some fantasy logic that lets you step into the TV.
>>3043274
I was just thinking, the npcs don't tell you what kind of games this developer is making. But they could be really bad porn games. In which case, you wouldn't need character dynamics to justify the sex.
>>
>>3043360
Too bad 99% of WEGs are shit.
>>
>>3043592
As a scene writing exercise, I feel like that's cheating. A bit.
Any scene can be used to frame a flashback, daydream, or whatever.

>A trip to the grocery store
>"Oh shit, I know that guy!" *Flashback*
>Hide behind the deli counter
>"Look at that bulge!" *Fantasize*
>Hide behind DVD Rack
>"Wait. There's a Bara Barge IV?! *Porno cast trailer*

It's all hypodiegetic. Scenes within scenes.
Anyone checking out "A trip to the store" might be disappointed nothing actually happens at the store. You know?

I love that game, it's also at the same time the only full bisexual game and sweet home parody I know. I heard something about a sequel a long ago. I hope it keeps the mm options. Also the possibility of censor het scenes since the censor of gay explicit scenes is already there would be nice.
