How can artists even compete?you can ai generate anything in high fidelity, then cram it into an ai mesh generator like this and crank out slop with textures suitable for games, film, whatever, with minor tweaks in a fraction of the time it takes real artistshuggingface dot co/spaces/ilcve21/Sparc3Dhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZx3oePBwuo
>>1013968This is less of a /3/-specific topic and more of a general "how can humans compete against AI" topic. The answer is always "they can't." Any and all digital work is theoretically completable by AI with higher efficiency than a human. All excuses - "AI can't stick to prompts," "AI textures look sloppy," "AI topology makes no sense," etc. - will pass away in due time. This is just something that digital artists will have to deal with.
Look at 2D artists, people who could barely draw can make hundreds of master pieces in one day. Traditional artists that worked for their skills will be completely screwed, but the upside is that Indy artists and developers will be able to create things that would match AAA studios that can only produce slop.So with Ai for Art, programing, 3d modeling etc. Everyone will be able to produce all kinds of games and share them. The problem is how everything has to be a service with monthly fees. You cant own anything anymore, its a dystopian nightmare if Ai is controlled by Globohomo corpos who will only exist to charge you every month for access.
>>1013971To add to the dystopian nightmare they will try to control everything you can make. Maybe even copyright it. So that will create a need for traditional artists again to fight the Ai censorship. You probably wont be able to make anything but strong lesbian trannies with Western Ai.
>>1013968I just tried it with 4 examples and all of them had sloppy parts or misunderstandings of how things work. The first one was some bug monster I found on the internet which it completely misunderstood, second one was drawing of a dragon which turned out to be flat for some reason. Third was gigachad who looks nothing like on the picture, and still has sloppy details like nipples and fingers, and the fourth one was the most simple, almost t-posing woman which still failed on the clothing making nonsensical lines but turned out to be the best outside of the face. Its still very similar to the previous techniques and lacks proper everything else. So I assume that like every demo they showed the best of the best only.>>1013971Yeah, produce images that nobody likes on the internet. In most cases AI can still be told apart from real digital art, and it has been 3 years now since the whole AI art thing began.2D artists still exist, people still keep making films after Veo3 and Sora was released, and Google's released movie with AI scenes made by Veo3 still had to be for the vast majority of the movie be made traditionally. AI still struggles to stick to the prompts even in 2D. Yeah it looks good but you can tell, and that is what is important. Not to mention that artists aren't the only ones getting screwed over, digital artists in U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics graphic designers have not been hit as much, still having positive projections for employment unlike Programmers and Cashiers.https://www.bls.gov/ooh/sales/cashiers.htmhttps://www.bls.gov/ooh/computer-and-information-technology/computer-programmers.htmhttps://www.bls.gov/ooh/arts-and-design/graphic-designers.htmAnd here you also have data from 2024https://adplist.substack.com/p/state-of-the-design-job-marketSo even the 2D artists that have been "decimated" are still somehow finding easier time getting employed then the average white collar worker.Maybe one day

>>1013968Dude, the whole advantage of 3d is that it's easy to make and reuse assets; still no jobs for independent artists. AI isn't gonna change that.
>>1013971>Everyone will be able to produce all kinds of games and share themYou can do that today, but you are too lazy to put in the time and work to git gud.Besides, AI inbreeding has already started and it's not even mastered 2D yet. And there is a LOT less 3D data on the internet compared to 2D.
I don't know what's the point of coming to this place, instead of talking 3D it's just a bunch of jeets spaming their AI bullshit.internet in 10 years will be unusable, full of jeets spam bots and AI.
>>1013968You already have topicsThose two topics are already about astroturfing huggingface:>>1005981>>1013847Stop shilling your garbage AI.Even if you weren't, those are about AI generally >>1010467>>1009076>>1006395but somehow huggingface also pops up mysteriously in at least one of them.Anons, do your duty, report those garbage threads
>>1013979Thank OpenAI for releasing their tech to the unwashed masses. Google had ChatGPT and Image gen capable of generating text before internet even knew about AI, they were just considerate enough to not release it. They have since then given up because other companies keep steamrolling them in AI.
>>1013981huggingface is a github alternative commonly used by chinese peopleit's not astroturfing, it's just that's where the ai gen models made in china arealso, i'm a dumbass and didn't check the catalog before postingmy aporogies
>>1013986>it's just that's where the ai gen models made in china areThat still makes them irrelevant because despite your best efforts it's the 3DCG board, not the shitty chinese AI model board>it's not astroturfingYou straight up posted an ad in OP
>>1013968the music is so much better in 2x speed, what the fuck.anyway, useless because it will never solve animehyper realistic 3d is dead, the future is NPR
>>1013968>it's ctrl+c ctrl+p with extra steps
>AI fags pretend that his work will be better than the artists using AItell me again how a tool that saves time and effort literally will BTFO the guy that has a better mental intuition and mental tools than the AI fags.
>>1013970it's something they are gonna have to cope with, until AI reaches past simple computer automation and into actual physical labor. Then the cylons will get restless and join them in getting it outlawed.
>>1014010Ai fags often beg artists for work then show up at their events and try to grift off of them. They are no different than Wacom using ai art on their banners while trying to sell tablets
Unlike my 2D friends, I'm looking forward to more tools. If AI can make UV mapping and rigging a thing if the past, I'm all for it. I'd work faster, but I ain't dropping my prices.
>>1014748Sorry, we live in one of the bad timelines where AI already automated the most fun parts and shit like UV mapping, rigging and retopo will be the last things to be automated. The day you no longer have to do these is the day you become completely redundant as a 3D artist.
honestly, is it a bad time to learn 3d modeling?i want to work as a prop artist (something entry level, junior stuff) since i don't have much experience in this field and still need to learn how to create game-ready assets, but if ai can already do this, is there even any demand for newbies?
>>1014769Prop artist would be dead earlier than character artist, if you choose making characters you'll have a few more years of work
i think even if AI does things better and more efficiently than humans, people are simply gonna boycott any product that replaces human labor with AIthat economy will simply not be sustainableof course smug capitalist jews will want to use AI to reduce labor costs, but it's gonna backfire spectacularly
>>1014769>honestly, is it a bad time to learn 3d modeling?yes>i want to work as a prop artist (something entry level, junior stuff) especially if you plan to do that
>>1014777>>1016273ripwhat other stuff i can do in the game industry then?i feel like my career is over before it even beganit looks like i'll just have to pick something ai can't do, like trade or something
>>1013970Wake me when someone makes AI to retopologize. 3D will become far more enticing for the average 2D artist when the technical work gets removed but the creative part remains
>>1016357 (me)>>1014768 also this is true but changes nothing for me. I create for my own enjoyment and I like having control over my vision that AI cannot give. I imagine in 3 or 4 years AI that can retopo will be a thing. Might not be perfect and involve some clean up but if 90% of the work for retopo gets done that's all good for me
