Ever since the Vamola arc ended I’ve felt more and more disinterested about the series so I can’t say I care too much. I’m glad Tatsu is finally doing something about Aira and Jiji’s feelings (not totally sure about Jiji since Momo is the one blushing) beyond jokes but it should’ve been done early on. Vamola and Zuma, despite ending up being more distractions than anything, easily showed more serious competition than either of them even though they’re the only ones who have explicit feelings. I can even see the appeal of Aira/Okarun and Momo/Jiji, its just annoying to know it took this long and now we’re on a month break for the next chapter that I’ll bet will shift focus to Kinta or some other shit in no time. I will say though, I agree that if Tatsu does go the nuclear route of actually making the pairings official I will commend him for not giving a shit and using the “everything doesn’t always work out with the person you thought was the one” trope. Even if it’s a temp thing, it won’t matter to shippers, they’re vicious motherfuckers.

For actual romcoms I can understand the argument of ending the story after the main couple gets together because it feels like authors rarely have any ideas for the actual main characters and end up turning the series into ship war for the side characters, but in DDD's case I doubt Okarun and Momo getting together earlier would have any negative effect on the story considering how their romance was never on the absolute forefront of the plot and it was mostly developed during the SoL sections while taking a backseat when shit got real. Funnily enough Momo's amnesia essentially took the plot hostage and is warping the manga into becoming a full romcom with some battle shounen aspects and that's doing more damage to the story than just having the two retards together by now.
