Watched this recently and while I did enjoy it, I thought the love triangle fell kind of flat which led to my disappointment with the ending. Allen got way too much focus and had too many plot threads tied to him so when Hitomi realized her feelings for Van by the end it felt shoehorned in. Her and Van had fewer sincere moments together so their romance wasn't satisfying.

Depressed Hitomi is 11/10 waifu material. The ending also felt more satisfying there. In the series it was a real downer for her to leave Gaia.
