There are 1151 Shoujo oneshots on mangaupates. Every day I will use a random number generator to select one from the list and dump it here. Come read along if you want.Yesterday's Thread >>268018499Today it's number 561https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/xct8y6p/kuma-san-to-isshoSynopsis:>A little girl Rin and her bear protector happen upon Sayuri, a survivor of the zombie apocalypse. Rin seems to be living an idyllic life in her lone mountain home, but how is it that she and Mr. Bear have managed to go unnoticed by the zombie hordes?
Today's should break the disappointment streak. It's quite long too, 48 pages.
>>268060796I've scoured so many zombie manga and ones keep passing me by anyway. I wish more people tagged manga. Thank you for bringing this one to my attention
>>268060969pretty sure this is how misery went
>>268061113they're so gonna eat her
>>268061148>>268061177My mind already reasoned the reveal. Thinking about magical bear to other things and using my knowledge of fiction works. Bear is a zombie.
>>268061552ohhh is it gonna be her zombified bf in the bear suit
>>268061763>>268061809That's so stupidly contrived that it wraps around to being cute.
>>268061614breh
>>268061957>>268062017>>268062087>>268062117>>268062176Absolutely schizophrenic escalation of events
>>268062298pretty okay. the novelty of not being a romance for once was enough to elevate it.
>>268062298Pretty bad, I don't hate it but it's dumb and I thought more about pulling it apart then the good bits of it. I reasoned the zombie bear but I just couldn't expect it ending like this, a bad one.
Uh, so it's not her father that turned into a zombie, it's the zombie that turned into her father after eating him? That's weird haven't seen that before in zombie stuff, I think. And the last scene with the woman? Was that a flashback to what she was talking about earlier or now she's gonna kill herself...I'm dumb I don't get it.Nice one though, I mean, generic for zombie fiction, but generic zombie fiction in shoujo oneshots is better than generic shoujo romance.By the way, we were actually supposed to read something else but it was only 9 pages long (and it was another school romance). I meant to bring this up earlier, but I think it'll be best that if I get something that's short, I'll do two in one night. But then when I rolled this one was too long, so I just did this one.
>>268062732>I'm dumbYou are because the explosion is clearly framed on this page>>268062268She blew up the gas station that was at the bottom of the hill to take all the zombies with her. Of course despite the fact these are walkers and her car is still sitting there and the zombdaddy can kill zombies without being attacked himself. I wouldn't call this zombie story generic but it's still not that good otherwise. It was all gas and the events didn't flow well to the point it's hard to follow and people can miss things. Honestly kind of funny a work like this gets better redrawing and typesetting than the top majority.
>>268060648OP, sorry I missed last threads. I was the anon that asked you if you needed any help with the MangaUpdates API.I just ran the query and I got 1114 oneshots. Had to filter out a couple odd entries ("Indonesian", "Manwha" and the likes).Pic related is the yearly distribution. You can check the full data here>https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LpiQ9ejEkRFFHdHJ-0ahgd7MtJr82v9nxveWPWGYRK0/edit?usp=sharing
>>268063039Oh you're right, I didn't see the explosion.
>>268060723Then they both died of eating poisonous mushrooms.
I dont understand this manga
>>268062732>and it was another school romanceman. the funny (and sad) thing is i've been super excited for the chance of iguana girl, my favorite oneshot of all time, to show up in one of these threads but apparently it got labeled josei on mangaupdates despite that it was published in a shoujo magazine. so i think it's not just that school romance is so prevalent in shoujo but also the world is conspiring against this thread idea and keeping everything different out of our grasp
>>268060796Unexpected Zombies.
>>268061076I imagine most translation teams would look at that handwriting and say, "fuck it".
>>268060796>>268061482>>268061515>>268062233Seems like main girls zombified bf shows up page 3
>>268063188Wow, thank you so much. The list will make selecting one much easier than before. The distribution graph is interesting, I wonder what happened in 2010. I'm surprised that the most were in 2013, I kinda figured it'd be about 2008, which is second place to be fair. What happened in 2010 for there to be so little and in 2013 for there to be so much? Also interesting you got a different number (1114 vs 1151)than if you use the search on the website (with parameters, shoujo, oneshots only, manga). Ah, did you also filter for ones that are scanlated? You can't do that with the site search.
>>268063936Nta but its probably down to tagging disparity more than a major difference in volume of works.
>>268063936Right, since I'm an utter noob with Python I may have messed up.The XLS is based on the a 1st query which returned 1341 with these filters: Oneshots + Shoujo (genre)A second manual filter removed Manwha, etc, which returned 1114.The closest number to 1151 I'm getting is 1167 with Shoujo (genre) + "scanlated", "oneshots".If I apply a third filter, with the above settings + Manga (type), I'm getting 986.>Ref: https://api.mangaupdates.com/#tag/series/operation/searchSeriesPost

>>268061957>>268061987Lady shows up for a few days and ruins literally everything by snooping around too much.
>>268062732Thanks OPSeemed like the writer had too much she wanted to cram into too small of a space. Our MC shows up, has a breakdown, starts looking around the area too closely, almost ruins everything, and then dies, and stuff returns to the status quo. I think this should have been split into two different one-shots.
>>268062732Thank you for posting.
What the fuck is wrong with women?
>>268068307It's a mystery.
See you next thread, one-shot anons.
