Evangelion Re-Take is a doujin created by Studio Kamigabuchi made way before the rebuilds, It appears that anno took a lot inspiration from this doujin when making the rebuilds. The basic idea is what if Shinji got a do-over from the End of Evangelion starting at about the midway point of the original show. I will be slowly posting the doujin in full.

In a way, Rebuild ended up retreading some of the same ideas that Re-Take had, but more poorly, which I think is an incredible testament to the quality of this doujin.
