Like you say, its a shame the rest of the level 3's couldn't stand up to Eshi's introduction, but the same thing happened with level 2 and level 4 as well where the first one they fight is a monster and the rest are comparatively weak.

It's interesting the anime version of Lena vs Eshi fight aired closely to Rukia's fight with Aaroniero in the Bleach anime. Always thought both fights had a similar feeling.
