Is this the part of the second season they sold as a movie?
>2:41
>2 hours of "do you remember what happened before?" and "I actually enjoyed being around Haruhi"
>very weak disappointing climax

I didn't expect much but feel scammed. Looks like it was the most impudent attempt to profit from fans

Kind of, I think they were going to make the story into season 2 but decided on a movie instead, so they just made Endless Eight eight times.

Are you a woman? Is this one of those women don't get it moments?
"Kyon's choice" is literally one of the top anime moments of all time
>>
You're probably the first i've seen that doesn't sing high praises for the Disappearance. I think it did a good job of putting the viewer in Kyon's shoes and showing his desperation and how drab his current world is without SOSdan hijinks.

>"Kyon's choice"
What choice? How many seconds did he choose anything? 0? 10 when hesitated to press enter? Or do you call "a choice" that monologue with a surreal animation?

There is no conflict - he immediately starts to search for Haruhi and misses the SOS days
There is no character development - everything resolves not by him
There is no actual new story, it's the worst version of Back to the future 2 because it only recycles things from the past
It's an idea for 2-3 episodes but not for a fucking movie

There are a few good moments but it's Haruhi, Sol where nothing happens and Kyon is grumbling

"Kyon's choice" is the name for a specific scene in the movie

You dodged my question, are you a woman or not? You don't need to answer at this point btw, of course you are

I get your point but being as long as it was also a way to make its point, just like with Endless 8. You didn't also mention altYuki and the club form scene.

The whole point is that Kyons is being dishonest with himself, and refuses to accept the fact that he enjoys Haruhis presence or being a member of the SoS brigade.

This makes him a very passive/reactive character, where he never states any opinion or desire beyond simply wanting to be rid of Haruhis nonsense, and whenever in the past this was challenged to him, either in the end of Melancholy, Live Alive, Endless Eight, he simply resorted back to asserting his biases when it came to his enjoyment of being a member of the SoS brigade.

This is what this story addresses, Kyon is brought into a world which happens to be like everything he ever professed to want, but despite that his immediate reaction is to put everything back to the way it was, even when he stops to think of whether he should go back, or stay in the alternate world, he still confidently chooses the original.

But the problem is, even after he presses Enter, which at that point was him definitively choosing the original over the alternate, he still went back to denial of his role within the SoS brigade.

And this doesnt begin to change until he realizes who created the alternate world, and for what reason.

Because when finally realizes that Nagato created the alternate world because she felt tired, exhausted, lonely, and desiring to to experience a normal, carefree, fulfilling life, he felt responsible for her being driven to the point where she wanted to change the world, because he had noticed that something was different about Nagato after the summer aka Endless Eight, he noticed her clearly struggling and acting in ways which a self professed pure observer who doesnt care, simply shouldnt, and yet she did, but because again of his passive/reactive nature, where he never asserts his own opinion/will beyond the biases he held from the beginning, he never acted upon what he noticed from Nagato, he never took it seriously and thus she felt forced to change the world.

Wasted possibility, like the entire exposition where the world without SOS becomes a worse place. It's a possibility of the story: what if this reality Yuki was an ordinary shy girl who's in love with Kyon, what if their meeting in the literature club led to something, what if he chooses between ordinary life with her and that reality with SOS. But no, it's again John Smith, it's again adult Mikuru, it's again Ryoko

Cont.

This leads directly then into Kyons monologue, as he considers the question he assumes Nagato gave him, is the original world better, or is the alternate.

And here is where he goes over his most basic beliefs about Haruhi, what weve seem exclaim time and time again, how things would be better if Haruhi had just calmed down and stopped making so much chaos all the time, after which he considers how every member of the SoS brigade would be in the alternate world, and how it seems to be good, but then comes the penultimate moment, “Why did you push the button”, at which point we go over his complaints about Haruhi, and realize that whilst some or even many of them are true, they leave out clear times where he did enjoy those things, where he did have fun, because of the chaos, not in spite of it, something that would be missing in the alternate world, and if anything the time since he met Haruhi and became a member of the SoS brigade was the most fun and best part of his life, and he wouldnt exchange it for anything, and how it is ridiculous how he had to ask himself such an obvious question at all, lashing out at his immense stubbornness.

After this Kyon acts significantly differently, he is fully a willing member of the SoS brigade, and actively enjoys their activities and has defended it on numerous occasions, aswell as beginning to admit more and more to liking Haruhi and her presence.

And as for Nagato, his relationship to changes a lot aswell, whereas before he would just call up on her whenever he felt like he needed her, without any consideration for her feelings, now he is extremely concerned about not overstressing her, about not burdening with having to solve every problem, even if she at times stubbornly tries to solve a problem despite her condition and also becomes heavily engaged with the development of her interests and identity, encouraging her to find hobbies of her own, to have friends and activities outside the SoS brigade
