It's his last good one. Howl's gets 2/3rds the way in, loses the plot and then just ends. Ponyo get 2/3rds the way in, loses the plot and then just ends on a resolution setup completely offscreen. Wind Rises gets 2/3rds the way in, a romantic tumor invades the plot and then just ends.
