The typesetting's rough because of a lot of small things. Sometimes the word count gets to be too much and the bubbles are almost bursting at the seams trying to contain everything. Stuff like ellipses end up on their own lines, separate from the word they're trailing off of. The centering could use more work. And there's personal pet peeves like being too faithful to the original dialogue and having a lot of elongated words.

For grammar, it's something that understandably happens a lot when translating where you preserve the original Japanese bubble by bubble, but reading it back makes it extremely awkward. Stuff like "Red rice... I wonder if I'll get to make some soon...", "The peace and safety of the girls in this club... I alone shall-" or "Always, alllwaaays showing off her panties... That's exactly why you're not popular in the first place" isn't the natural way an English speaker would phrase those things. Also, you need to use an em dash there and not a normal dash. Typos and grammar isn't something you particularly need a second set of eyes on, especially when if it's a case like this chapter where just about every page has something wrong with it. I'm not saying that to be mean. But if you can't give a chapter the amount of time it needs and whoever passes it needs, then you're better off stalling it or dropping it. Working on several series at once isn't an excuse.

You should unironically post in the scanlation threads and just let the faggots there rip into you. Lets you harden your heart to insults but also get some decent criticism and stuff to consider.

A little more, yeah. Type out everything in a document first and think about how the dialogue and conversations sound. It's up to you how "liberal" you want to be, but from this chapter the most apparent thing to me is you simply need to give the script more thought rather than translating and typesetting as you go. Also helps with trivial typos and grammar if what you're using has spell-check.

I don't really agree. Doing first a translation script in notepad or whatever and then afterwards typesetting it is an incredible increase of work that just isn't worth it. If I had to do that, I'd just probably quit because it's not worth the hassle. When you're a one-man team, you do everything yourself, and any ways to skip unnecessary steps are important.

That the bubbles weren't getting enough air is pretty obvious though. It makes it a bit harder to read. I'd say that's a worse crime than the translation really.
I think that trying to keep to one font size throughout except when shouting or emphasis or similar, and give the bubbles more air and keep the text somewhat similar to the shape of the bubbles are by far the most important aspects of typesetting.
Using a million fonts is probably worse for the reader than a couple of fonts really.
