This revelation only raises more questions. To me it looks like the magic world fell into ruin and became the broken landscape of The Dark. Meanwhile the universe of The Hole progressed relatively normally into a spacefaring future? Never read Dorohedoro (not any particular reason, it's just the kind of manga I never get around to actually starting, though hanging in these threads I've got the gist of the situation), but I don't like the whole Damemaru / Chidamura thing. Reminds me of how Ohkubo grafted Soul Eater stuff into Fire Force near the end, felt like he was piggybacking his own more popular work. Granted I don't think that this is what's happening here since Damemaru was introduced very early in the story but I feel like the whole thing would work way better as an original mystery. As the manga's current pace we're going to have to bear years of the mangaka winking at us before she finally decides it's time for the big reveal everyone figured out years ago and expect us to gasp.Of course there may be important twists later on and there's still the question of what's the deal with Sanko, Avakian and Shop Valley, but you know, I'd prefer it if it was a self-contained work.

>>272307641It´s hardly the same as the Fire Force/Soul Eater connection, its just a single connection to her previous work while the entire rest of it is relatively unconnected, Damemaru is one of the main characters, but his whole thing especially so far has been sideplot with the focus more being on Sankos space adventure and might be heading towards what the fuck Zora is and whats up with his bones.Also if anything him being Chidaruma is a continuation from the previous work, which is hardly a issue.

>>272307641I understand the sentiment completely if you've been exposed to this kind of manga development through Fire Force. That one went absurdly far with the concept which is far from being how it usually goes, most other manga keep their stuff grounded on a more modest level. For example in Flames of Recca there is a character called Joker who dies from falling in a black hole (shit happens) and this character seem to reappear in the author's next work as an eerily similar amnesiac from another world... and that's it. It doesn't take over the plot, it's barely an easter egg. One character mentions he looks like he comes from far away, one time Joker/Nanashi meets a thunder user and has an almost-flashback of what looks like the silhouette of a thunder users he knew, but it doesn't get any worse than that, his identity doesn't even get hard-confirmed canonically (as far as the wiki says). So even if Chidaruma plays a role in Dai Dark it might just on about the same level of plot relevance which is basically "oh hey it's that guy (maybe!?!)". It's Fire Force that sets a scary precedent. It was interestingly experimental in a lot of ways but luckily for our sanity there's few others manga that dip so far in crazy.

Will Sanko’s retain his childlike innocence when he inevitably gains some amazing power? Or will that power be the thing that finally breaks him? Damemaru is interesting too because with him, we’re simultaneously viewing Chidaruma’s future (after the events of Dorohedoro) and past (as in his “childhood,” since he respawned as a baby). When he eventually regains his Devil power, will he be he same narcissistic asshole he was before, or will having a group of friends, especially the one being in the universe he recognized as his equal, change him for the better?
