The jokes aren't usually based on it at all. I would not go in expected a lot of ecchi humor just because of the designs and Ataru's pervertedness. There's like three nosebleeds in the entire 38 volumes.

Most of the stories follow some absurd situation that just keeps getting worse and worse and never resolves. Great voice acting and all the girls are super cute.
