>>272413354It's time for adventure, lads.
>>272416684They really just made him a prince because of his racism huh.
>>272413354>>272416700The Nether is not where I expected CDF to go.
>>272416763This is honestly the most out of nowhere volume, and it is either the second best or the best.
>>272416746>vampires can't use range weapons>they have a prince named Arrow with arrow tattoos>he's just a racist warrior
>>272416807Don't forget the fucking boomerang.
>>272416775I was thinking that too, how out of place it is with the rest of the story. But it still somehow works so well, especially for a manga. I guess Harkat's identity had to fit somewhere and he's definitely worthy of a volume.
>>272416871It reminds the one story by Ray Bradbury called The Veldt.
>>272416871The connection between Harkat's origin and this story is so integrally tied with the Rites trilogy that I fully believe Shan knew where he wanted it to go, he just had the realization in book 12 "this is where the final confrontation would happen", which meant aborting the other 8 books he had planned that might've explored some of the concepts from this volume more
>>272412891I LOVE CIRQUE DU FREAK!Special thanks to Loudon County Library where this used volume I bought is from.
>>272417186I recognize that bedrock formation...

>An issue of Shonen Sunday (in which the manga adaptation of "The Saga of Darren Shan" first appears every week) was released while I was in Japan. Because they knew I was going to be there, and that it was my birthday, they put my character and Harkat on the cover!!! Here I am buying a copy of what to me is a VERY special edition of the comic.
>>272419127
>>272419426That is amazing.
Was very scared if the last thread was bumped.
le plot device man is here to introduce le plot device trialsgod tiny is such a shit character. YA-fictioncore
>>272420026I said this for a while now. Mr. Tiny and Evanna are fantastic characters but ruin the fucking story.

Going over these threads got me thinking, since Arai showed it works and how its done - what other YA Book Series would make for Kino Manga / Anime Adaptions? My Money would be on pic related or Department 19, if anyone remembers that.
>>272428563Wheel of Time would make a good native iisekai series
>>272428563I'm surprised they never did one for Harry Potter, it would have been a money printing machine
>>272428563Your pic related was the one i had in mind too!
>>272420818A little self-centered, don't you think?
>>272428563I remember Keys to the Kingdom having a strange setting that could lead to some interesting visuals.
>>272420026>YA-fictioncoreYA-fictioncore? In my YA fantasy novel? I-impossible!
>>272417186>sticker right over Darren's face kek
>>272432202It's Harkat's time!
>>272400115>272400185>So that was Kurda's plan + 3 hunter/lord interactions and then one final confrontation?>The first one was Kurda's plan. Then they had three chances to kill Steve, and now the final confrontation is their fifth and last chance.I wonder how exactly Kurda's plan would've stopped Steve's bullshit. The guy gives no fucks for rules or traditions so I doubt Kurda claiming vampires surrendered would've stopped him from massacring them AND Kurda.
>>272433931I assume the vampaneze are only following Steve to win the war. If the war was averted through Kurda then the likes of Gannen and others would probably be less likely to put up with his bullshit. I'm not sure he'd even been blooded before Kurda's failed ploy.
>>272434210Iirc, Kurda plan started when they discovered he was their lord, but wasn't blooded until after Darren became a prince.
>>272412891Haven't checked in in a while but now this storytime is past the point I stopped reading at years ago (because no scans). Guess I'll start following now.
>>272435366For 9 days now.
>>272435366Welcome to the fold
What this
>>272413067>I'll try not to think about it too hardMan, I kinda wish I kept track of how many times he says this throughout the story>>272428563Keys to the Kingdom would be my first thought as well. They had more than enough fantastical elements to make a cool adaptation out of. Artemis Fowl would be a good contender too.>>272417186Shout out to LCPL I live in Loudoun right now>>272413450Pirate Darren is still best Darren
>>272421872Can you blame them?
>>272436662Leave FOREVER.
>>272437864Much like the thread
>>272421872Darren had a chance when Debbie offered let him stay with her. It's his own fault

Wanted to post a few art pieces that were drawn of my FFXIV characters that referenced /CdF/ panels.
>>272428563animorphsartemis fowlDeltora Quest had a kino anime.
>>272441794mostly Gannen. respect
>>272443571Gannen is the sole inspiration of my henchman character. Something about the loyal but hesitant sidekick gets to me.
>>272412891I've seen this cover so many times but this is the first time I notice the 3 marks on Harkat's face
>>272443806Arai spoiling fucking EVERYTHING.
>>272443822He couldn't help himself
>>272428563Edge Chronicles could be interesting
>>272428563I'll never get over the fact that Hayao Miyazaki spent years begging Ursula K. Le Guin for the Earthsea's movie rights, only for his son to direct the movie and turn it into a big fuck you towards him.
>>272429610Nice, I thought I was the only one that read it.>>272428607Good Pick as well.>>272430695>>272437242Never read it, whats Keys about? >>272437242>>272441999Also Artemis Fowl would be a fucking perfect fit, the guy is basicly an anime protag allready.
>>272428563Thank you for posting.
>Red heads are evilWhat did Shan mean with this?
>>272449774Fuck Scotland.
>>272447350From memory Keys is about a young boy called Arthur, who ends up in the possession of a clockhand which acts as a 'Key' to a place called the House. After obtaining the Key otherworldly beings start pursuing Arthur to claim the Key for their master, Mister Monday, so Arthur goes to investigate the House to figure out how to stop all the weird stuff happening around him. I forget how much detail is initially revealed in the first book so I'll spoiler it just in case, but the broader premise is that the House itself is another dimension that serves as a sort of linchpin of all reality. The creator of the House, the Architect, left behind a Will before disappearing, but instead of enacting it the seven trustees carved the Will up and claimed an area of the House as their own domain, allowing it to fall into disrepair and thus threatening the existence of all reality. Arthur is tasked with finding and freeing the scattered parts of the Will, which are each their own sentient being, while also claiming the rest of the Keys from the trustees, with each book focusing on a different area.
