Sup /a/, never got around to finishing this one. I have mixed feelings about it, but I figured we could talk about it while reading it together, so here we goChapter 1: Dreams and Reality
Also, this is my first storytime/daily so please be patient, I don't have a pass either

Jesus how much spaghetti can you spill?
And so ends the first chapter. Thi is about 170 chapters so we're in for a lengthy ride.Thank you for reading What do you think about Bakuman anons?
>>272553824Thank you for posting. I'm not familiar with Bakuman so I can't say.
>>272553824I re-read it recently. Like Death Note, the final arcs are kind of a mess (ESPECIALLY the second go-around with Nanamine) but overall it's my favourite think Ohba and Obata have done. Cast is super memorable and likeable even if the dramatization of how manga publishing companies work is a bit over the top. They made viewing a mangaka's day-to-day struggles interesting in a way that hadn't been done before which is neat.
>>272551250>I have mixed feelings about it, but I figured we could talk about it while reading it together, so here we goIt has a very dumb arc but overall It was maybe the first manga to talk about the job without parody (Hoero Pen saga) or external social drifts (various gekiga)
>>272551250I really liked this manga when I read it back then, though the ending it got felt very abrupt desu.
Not yet.
>>272553824I like it, but it's worse than I remembered.Nanamine arcs are too long and recycled. The azuki/mashiro stuff is too lame and overall uninteresting. It seems like at any point there's something resembling drama like akagi working with the dog kid or Mashiro going to the hospital it falls flat on its face
>>272557594Also please no daily chapter shit. Just do a volume dump and get a pass
Bump
>>272553824Thanks for posting, OP. I've been meaning to read this for a while.
>>272551584>last year of our compulsory education>14 years oldWait, what?Do Japs not have to go to high school?
>>272558178hehe
>>272551276>, I don't have a pass eitherMay God have mercy on your soul.Aren't Bakuman chapters fairly long?
>>272557625You don't have to follow if you don't want to
>>272551250Good art and I liked the insights on how jump operate. But overall I couldn't stand most of the characters except the blonde guy. The mc in particular act way too superior, and I got the same feeling from the authors when they talk about what makes a good author/manga/story. It was ironic considering the overall cast (and the other mangaka especially) were very cliché, and the story rather weak. Hard to see the shots fired at the darker mangaka without thinking about popular manga that were published during this time period (namely SNK).Criticizing darker, riskier, more ambitious works while constantly shilling battle-shonen101 as the apex of manga felt wrong. But considering they often take pride in manga being a merch whose only metric is popularity and sales, that makes sens. The romance was easily one of the worst I've read, and not just in manga.Death Note was better.
>>272551250It falls off pretty damn hard in the second half. The name Nanamine is still triggering my gag reflex.
