A manga by Ryouichirou Kezuka that's been running in Aokishi since 2021. There's no real overarching plot or story, it's an anthology with stories about music and records and the people who collect, listen and play in various times and places around the world. Since the first volume is translated, I'll do a chapter a day of what's available so far starting with a young woman whose grandfather passed, a record store employee and their attempt to find the truth of a mysterious foreign record they found in his collection.
So beyond music and vinyl collecting, the author apparetly has an interest in stuff like the Showa era and architecture and I believe graduated from university with a degree in graphic design. A lot of this becomes appearent as each chapter always includes a floor plan/layout of whatever prominent location is features in the chapter and a lot of the fake bands, logos, etc. are all his own design.
Pajal is a fake country that I believe is mostly intended to be Nepal.
This art looks so much like Naoki Yamamoto, I thought it was him under a different name at first.
>>272612493I don't really see it myself? At least with the characters the art feels way more blatantly influenced by Katsuhiro Otomo.
>>272612654The short haired girl in the first few pages especially looks like it's straight out of Inaka or some other newer work of his imo
>>272612705Anyway, thank you for the dump. Can't follow the thread right now but I was looking for an ongoing series to keep up with and this looks enjoyable enough to fit the bill.
Like I said, these little pages are at the end of every chapter.
Now some notes
That's all for today. Next time, we travel to the Soviet Union to see the perils of trying to listen to banned western music while living behind the Iron Curtain.
Thanks OP.>>272613144Respect for the translator, but I can't help but read "why don't you just know Japanese so you don't miss the constant wordplay, you baka?"
Bumping
This reminds me I must have read this once before. It's beautiful.Thank you, OP.

>>272612178Why not just use Nepal? This is supposed to be a more grounded story isn't it?
>>272618897Probably just easier and/or the author wanted to do the fake language for the girl's name thing so that was easier and gave him more control than having to autistically research the Nepalese language.
Cool manga!
