Yo, OP.
>>273234507Yooo
And that's it for today.
Lot of good panels this chapter
>>273234850Takagi will not survive this relationship
>>273235085Thanks OP>>273235312He needs a unironic training arc just to deal with her
>>273235312He will learn to love it
>>273234790what an entitled faggot, why wouldn't she tell her best friend about this kind of stuff?
>>273234692Always loved their faces at the bottom panel.
>>273235020and thus manga lie Rent a Girlfriend are born
>>273235085Thank you OP!
>>273234985Does Jump still use this review system ?
>>273237711I'd imagine it's digitalized now
>>273237319He is a fag but his friends do call him out on it so i think its fine.
>>273234821https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%85%A8%E7%84%B6somebody put takagi's dialog in panel three on wiktionary as a citation for 全然 (zenzen "(not) at all")
>>273235020>there's one where handsome high school students compete with each other to see how many girls they can cheat on at the same time
>>273234493neotism!
>>273237319Especially considering Shujin already knows all about it
>>273235085Thank you for posting.
>>273243764gem
>>273235312Ironically his and Miyoshi's relationship looks 20x more resilient then Saiko and Azuki's
>>273234382Eventually I'll unfuck my sleeping schedule to be here when these come out.
>>273234493I like the contrast to how he almost always seems angry, or maybe just professional to a fault, but when he looks as Mashiro directly and asks him if he gets it, that's suddenly gone.Maybe it's just me.
>>273234559Damn, look at those "Please look forward to the next series" comments in the back, one of them is just plastered over a double-spread with zero shits given. Not sure if that's a Viz thing, but it's fucking funny.
>>273234821>>273234850Miyoshi really brings nice levity to the series early on.I do think it's interesting how almost hostile Mashiro is towards her though.
>>273234952That's an excellent face.Next time someone flaunts their shit taste, this will find good use.
>>273235056>infrared lightsStarting to show your age, Bakuman.(Though apparently some phones do still use them?)
>>273237711>>273237743Should still apply and it should still be analog even (Though it may also be digital). What a shock that the Japanese wouldn't really update how they run their businesses, for the most part anyways.
>>273237711Yes, they still have questionnaires, but no, that is not really how things work. A lot of ideas about how Jump works are still circulated as they were established in Bakuman, it's just storytelling. Popularity isn't determinable by the ToC alone, that's absurd.
>>273234591>>273234625What's the biggest difference between us and Eiji Nizuma?>The art... no... to put it simply... he's fucking autistic.
>>273249748Bakuman doesn't claim that to be the case either. Yes, it uses it to present the competitive side from a storytelling perspective, but it also makes clear that it's not the only thing that matters. At the same time, you can't really deny the logic in it.
>>273234952
>>273249869
>>273234915>>273234952They really do suck. It's actually impressive how well Obata can draw a soulless shonen MC.
>>273249916Must be experience.
This series doesn’t have enough sex in it
>>273249895>I hate it, I need more!
>>273235085Thanks for the dump
>>273250563... YET!>>273235020This is actually true for a lot of things. You are better off creating something that a few people will think is 10/10 instead of everyone agreeing on it being 7/10.
>>273249869perfect
bakubump
>>273234382Thanks.
>>273237711Yes it does. In fact the digital survey recently got updated to include 2 different top 3 chapters of the week. It's clearly still important, but with digital magazines and buso renkin changing the way they perceive popular manga, it isn't word of god anymore.
>>273249869>>273249895first time reading but i am loving this guy
>>273256957Expected result, I think.
>>273234658... Wrong.Being autistically into manga will only let you produce garbage since you'll just reurgitate what you've previously read. You have no experience of your own.The key to making truly unique stuff is having unique experiences and channeling that into your art.If you just show me the same shit I've read except through your own autismo lens with some nignags changed, you've shown me slop.I know the author just wants some L kinda dude I guess, but a living, breathing consoomer ain't the right way.
>>273257316>Being autistically into manga will only let you produce garbage since you'll just reurgitate what you've previously read.I think you're taking the "love manga" thing way too much at face value, since another big part that's shown here is the "unconcious level" for him. Or, to put it in your thing, there's absolutely no friction in channeling experiences into the art. It doesn't imply he's looking only at other manga as inspiration, since "loving manga" can easily be seen in the creation of it (what's implied here) than the consumption of it.
>>273257733How can he continuously be able to pour his everything into creating if he's so young and doesn't know shit?
>>273257783Honestly don't know what you're trying to ask here, the story states he gives it his all in drawing manga.I'm guessing here, but if you mean by this that there's not enough experiences for him to portray in his drawings (stemming from your idea of needing unique experiences to channel into art) I still think it's a weird way to criticize something. This is somebody who's getting good at mapping his ideas onto paper, the more he does that the better he gets at it, and once you get to the point its ingrained into you, then the next step (being inspired by something) is the easy thing to do.
>>273256957Easy favorite for the series
>>273257316You're better off just reading him as... Oda, I think? That's what he is.
Chapter 13 "Chocolate and Akamaru" Published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on November 10, 2008.
And that is it for today Bakubros.
>>273262914Miyoshi > Azuki
>>273263044Thank you OP!
>>273262583Hey it's a bunch of manga /a/ is storytiming right now!
>>273262690>They don't give out 100s.Surely that's not a thing.
>>273262414Colored pages for today
>>273264274/a/ is in its 2000s nostalgia phase. Tune in by the 2030s and you'll have storytimes of 2010s classics!
>>273262433>>273262465
>>273262862Damn detected!
>>273263258That's obvious to anyone not named Mashiro.
>>273263005>Look at how good out young prodigy is, he can beat others of his own age.I don't think that's as much of a sales pitch as you think, Jump.At least put in some washed-out veteran.
>>273248455I would call it simply serious. But that eyebrow raise does make him seem friendlier in that moment.
>>273264369Works for me, this was definitely my era, after all.
>NepotismThe manga. I doubt IRL mangaka have lives nearly as exciting as what’s depicted here. They either become slaves to their own work like Oda or lose their minds like the Act Age author
>>273264601I think that's why Takagi and Mashiro are the age they are, so they take everything more seriously and dramatic.
I know it’s not the thread but Platinum End (obviously modelled on Ashirogi Muto’s cult hit) sucked ass
>>273263005>Ever read about "jobber" characters? You are one!
>>273264601If nepotism was all they had they wouldn't have been featured in Akamaru even. It's also obviously dramatized to make the story exciting and entertaining to read.
>>273234591I love this manga but there are some serious flaws with regurgitating the mindless corporate rhetoric of a commercial magazine. They have PROVEN they know jack fucking shit about 'good manga' and never have and never will.Granted, far better a system than American capesludge but that's like comparing how bad shit stinks between a hyena and an elephant. I'd say the real difference is how comics are made traditionally in Japan (nothing to do with the later magazines, that shit was solidified in the fucking Edo period) versus the idiotic way Americans shit out 'comics'.
>>273262192if only
>>273262798I like how Miyoshi ends up being a central pillar with how much she hangs out with them.
>>273262914Jesus Christ Mashiro is such a social awkward guy. He's the quiet deadpan uncle at family gatherings
>>273264274KochiKame storytime when
>>273262743You're 100% right and this aspect is 1000% the absolute worst aspect, since it's not background enough to not matter with how often it's brought up. It's just because the author wanted some long-term '''''''''''''''''''""""""""romance""""""""'''''''''''''''''' goal, but it's paramount to taking a shit, and much less not bothering to flush, the fucker didn't even wipe or use the bidet.
>>273266419When would that end, if it started today?
>>273267408If it started tomorrow, it would finish at 2030. apr. 2.
>>273264433Bakudamn, we need a new collage
>>273263258There's no competition there, Miyoshi is such a chadette
>>273263044Thanks OP
>>273263044Thank you for posting.
>>273234525>>273265030>They have PROVEN they know jack fucking shit about 'good manga'Was fun watching them try to kill their only big hit in years in the crib
>>273260516According to the wiki he's supposed to be Oda.
>>273262862miyoshi a cuteshe's so fucking best
>>273262192Gege confirms
>>273262192lmao
>>273266687There's a reason why most series are all-or-nothing when it comes to romance. Because a bad romantic subplot can be frustrating to read and potentially ruin an otherwise good story. If a series has the romance as its centerpoint, then nothing of value is lost if the romance is bad.If a series barely touches on romance beyond hints until the very end, then you can just ignore the bad romance. But if a romance takes up a significant amount of time, but not enough to be the main plot, it's just annoying when it's bad because you want to get back to the good part. And when I say this, I'm talking about a normally bad romance. Bakuman's romantic subplot has been impressively retarded so far.The main plot is engaging and I'm really enjoying the story of Saiko and Takagi getting into the manga industry, but I keep rolling my eyes whenever Saiko and Miho's relationship comes up.
>>273262946Okay, I was fully expecting him to pledge to not open the gift until his manga gets an anime adaptation.Maybe he's saving the chocolates for that time.
>>273275796luckily he's not that autistic about love
>>273275717I've never had an issue with it, though I can definitely see why people don't like it.Especially early on, for what it is, it gets a bit too much focus in ways that doesn't matter.I doubt you'll come around to liking it, but I think it is eventually used at least a bit better?
>>273264346Nice.
>>273234462Not a fan of this translation. He originally said "fun" instead of "good." I know it can be translated to good too but I think the implication is lost in translation. Good in this sense means fun not well written. Jump is meant to be fun, not a well-written work.
>>273279930It's "interesting".Which has a wide variety of meanings. It could be fun, or it could be well-written. Maybe even good. As long as it keeps the reader interested, it'll be published.
>>273279930Omoshiroi could be interesting or amusing. Fun is leaning towards comedy too much. Them using good is a bit harsher but it's neutral and fitting.
>>273281065NTA but fair enough.
>>273264369I don't mind sampling the classics of any era.
>>273273067Makes sense.
>>273234382I remember I watched the anime many moons ago until they introduced the rival dude. After they started focusing on the rival it did not land very well with me. I think he did not feel realistic compared to the rest of the story.
>>273286763The story itself and all the characters are exaggarated and dramatized to make the manga more entertaining. That's just something you have to get used to.
>>273287195Yeah I guess. But I think I liked the 1st part more, before they had a rival.
>>273287377Ooooh, you didn't mean Nizuma?
>>273272238Which one was that?
>>273287426Yeah, that guy.Let me guess, they become best friends?
>>273288387Kind of. They do become friends and both parties hold respect for the other but since Nizuma is such an autist it's not like they will be chummy with each other.
>>273288629I see. Thanks for the clarification.
>>273288387They're not good enough to be called rivals desu
>>273288387Pretty much
>>273234382Bakuman Chapter 14"Feast and Graduation" Published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on November 17, 2008.
And that'll be it for today. Wasn't really expecting the thread to still be up.
>>273292387Based Miyoshi.
>>273277364I think the "romance" is good for adding flavor to Mashiro's drive to make a popular manga. It's like Akane's dad in Akanebanashi, and the jokes about the dad being dead. Wanting to do manga or rakugo isn't enough--there needs to be extra spicing for ooomph, even if it's a little weird.
>>273292555Just walking by him and going inside would've been crazy
>>273292857It also helps (me at least) that everyone else rightfully calls them out on their stupidity, mostly Miyoshi since she has a big mouth and a nice belly.
>>273292359Crying Kaya here has a lot of the same energy as the Manzai manga. (Same artist, obviously, but still)
>>273292578>30 minutesThey're just like me.
Also also, to defend the romance in the series. It's not just about Mashiro and Miho even if they get the most focus early on. We now have Miyoshi and Takagi, the best pairing: (genius) retard + (based) retard. I love their chemistry.
>>273292425Copeshiro
>>273292578Same energy as pic related.
>>273293247Definitely one of the best parts of the series
>>273292425
>>273296662I do like that Mashiro (and probably Miho too) is frustrated about their stupid promise. Sure they are lovebirds on the same frequency but they are still teenagers.
>>273292698Thank you for posting.
>>273292698Thank you OP!
>>273293247The only good female character Ohba has written, what a based bitch, love her
>>273287669I don't know if he was referring to One Piece, but Eiichiro Oda said that a lot of the editors hated the idea of a series where the main protagonist's power is rubber, and were opposed to its serialization.
>>273295109cute
>>273264601What I like about this manga is that even if Mashiro is talented at art and even has his uncle's fucking studio, he still has to work his ass off and team up with another person just to BARELY make it into jump. There's him, and then there's Niizuma Eiji who's a fucking nobody from the boonies who still trumps Mashiro and Takagi at pretty much everything.
>>273292643Azuki lips
>>273235056This work is gonna ruin a boy's life later. A shame the authors just gloss it over
Tangentially related but I read Platinum End to get a better idea of some of the stuff that comes up later in Bakuman and I feel like I just got trolled by that ending.
>>273305054Gottem!
>>273264601>I doubt IRL mangaka have lives nearly as exciting as what’s depicted here. When the series is further along i really want to know what happened during the first like 40 chapters of Kagurabachi;>basically everywhere except jump it was being treated as a mega-hit, while it was ranking poorly in the TOC>the moment the EiC changed it went from ranking poorly to jumping to the front consistently>Takeru hit like 30 different extremely lucky breaks with the series early on
>>273292194I really want to see what Hattori's reaction will be to Saiko's actual reason for being in such a hurry.
>>273292578>30 minutes>Thirty (30)>Fucking>Minutes
>>273308603Hahaha
>>273308603kek good
>>273289712I'm ok with that.
>>273234462I remember there being an edit of this page with him concluding with "that's why I canceled boring manga like mx0 and double arts"
>>273313244definitely am keeping his and Hattori's pages from that chapter on standby for the future
baku bump
>>273313244That's funny.
>>273292997Miyoshibros keep winning
Almost there.
>>273322133This feels familiar
>>273234382>>273262414>>273292106Bakuman Chapter 15 "Send and Reply"Published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on November 24, 2008.
>>273323110Mashiro looking kinda rough here
>>273323233>JuneThis deadline was in February, right? Would they really go months before getting paid here?
>>273323337They graduated so they're in March now I think?
>>273323408Yeah >>273323311 says this is after White Day too.>Mashiro gets called a bad boy>Immediately gets full of himself and tells Shujin to work harder for no reason
>>273323545Flipped names rearing their head again, you can even see the kanji being added t the middle of the name, not at the end.
And that's it for Chapter 15.
>>273323631How are we feeling about the protagonist of "Crow" by the high school prodigy Nizuma Eiji?
>>273323498kek
>>273323779Mixed feelings. Can't say I love it
>>273323150This is only just the beginning.
>>273324740It's hard shounen. Hard to like those super formulaic series.
>>273323138Best girl, sexy, cute, and funny>>273266687Yeah usually you get girls like Hinata or Rem and think "yeah insanely devoted girls like this don't exist outside of 2D", but Mashiro is the first time I felt like that for a guy. Second time would be Taiju from Dr. Stone.>>273234952Hattori best boy
>>273323473aizawa spotted
>>273323699Thanks OP
>>273323408Azuki's first reply is always so funny on every read
>>273323779>>273324740I like it. The very hard shading on it looks cool.
>>273324740I feel like this design would fit better in CoroCoro.
>>273249810Truly the L of Manga.
>>273263258Reading this first time and its pretty obvious already on account of her actually being active at all.
>>273323446>It´ll be fine, we got the normie audience.
>>273329500I mean, yeah. It's Jump, that is the demographic they want.
>>273257316Yeah, sure. One Piece is a mix of many personal experience and not a copy of many popular shonen fomular before them like Dragonball.
>>273323233When adjusted to inflation a little under $3000 today.
>>273323110Truly made for one another.
>>273323669>Nah, they'd win
>>273323631Hi Toriko >>273326986never would've caught that kek
reading bump
Why does Obata's art look ugly as shit? Pic related looked good
>>273336328I kinda get what you mean, but I looked in that chapter and the art doesn't seem all that different for the most part. I'd say later Bakuman looks even way different. Could just be here he's still just not 100% used to drawing the characters as naturally.
>>273336328The style of Hikaru no Go looks very stiff comparatively. I don't think it would go well.I'd say that Obata was experimenting with a more expressive artstyle at the time. Bakuman. was actually fairly well detailed at the beginning but the lineart got noticeably softer and simpler with time, in order to match with the slice of life tone of the manga. That is particularly true when they'll introduce more characters along the way.
>>273323077>Nah, I'd win.
>>273323408
>>273336328I'm pretty sure it's a conscious choice. 1. it's a manga about making comics, 2. the tone of the series is much more goofier 3. maybe he wanted to experiment, you can see a bunch of
>>273342721- varied screentones used as the manga goes along and of course the faces often times are all exaggarated for comedic effect.
